"Cow" really should rhyme with words like row, bow, show, etc. But it doesn't. It does, however, rhyme with "plough." But plough does not rhyme with dough, which rhymes with row, bow and show. "Rough" doesn't rhyme with any of these. Wtf English?

Really, row and rough should be pronounced exactly the same. But then you would have to spell rough as "ruff," which would make everyone feel like members of some 80's band.

Cow can be easily traced to the proto indo-european. The portuguese word has the same origin, vaCA.
