um i can't really think of them right now

and i guess not 100% non-sequiters, but usually they only have slight bearing on the conversation at hand, but that was the best way i could describe them.

I'm sure there are some examples in my posts somewhere.

The vague and innocuous are the most important parts of the whole thing though, the non-sequiter is just a bonus.

Like somebody making a party foul and me going "this is how the economic crisis happened"?

yeah something along those lines

although i like the ones where people are slightly puzzled by it at the same time more(like they think it might be serious but can't tell where you're going with it).

I like Kurt Vonnegut's practice of starting sentences with "but" or "and". He's reasoning was everything comes from everything else so it makes sense to start a thought with "and".

although it might not be gramatically correct, it's not that uncommon for everyday usage in speech

Exactly. And the fact that a professional, highly acclaimed, writer made it a practice, it allows us to use it (if done well) in written work as well.
