dude this exact situation happened to me at work yesterday and i laughed because i thought my co-worker was joking and then he gets all shitty when i said 'wow i thought you were smarter than that'. Perhaps I too an an intolerant athiest asshole

Not demons as in, I got demons like I'm an alcoholic or I'm haunted by my brother's death, demons as in spirits that can possess things..aka ghosts. Except this person explicitly told me that he doesn't believe in ghosts, but that he believes demons can impersonate ghosts, even though you can't impersonate something that isn't real.

It's not even Christianity in general, because I respect the hell out of the Pope--very intellectual man--and there's gads of Christians who have rational beliefs, but these southern Evangelicals are unbearable. They have totally irrational beliefs (among them, that Catholics aren't Christians), they're entirely disrespectful of other points of view as they feel that they must bring up Christianity in class even when it doesn't relate, and they insist on inviting you to things "just to check it out", as if an atheist really wants to go pal around at a Bible study filled with more people like you.

I'm ranting, aren't I?

wtf are you talking about the new pope is a total asshole. He's said all gays are going to hell among other shit, blah. Now I won't bash you for not knowing what you are talking about but geez the guy is a fucking gremlin. BTW There isn't anything rational about being 100% certain there is a god.

I dunno the whole argument has gotten old to me. I know that I don't bother with irrational people and that being 100% certain god is waiting to spoon feed you big macs is irrational so, I basically get bored at that point. However when the cute little deviant girl is looking for a way out of her christian upbringing I gladly accommodate.

Sorry, I keep thinking it's still PJP2. He was the pope when I left the church and he was incredible.
