After surgery + excess skin removal (abdominoplasty etc)surgeries:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=mas ... iew=videos I found this gal on youtube, and she has documented the entire process of her weight loss on video. I didn't watch all of her videos but I cherry picked a few here and there and followed along to see what sort of changes she was going through. Her weight loss was an absolutely AMAZING struggle to go through. I think that a lot of people believe "plastic" surgery is the easy way to become more attractive, but it's not. It's appears to be very hard.

I don't think most people consider gastric bypass to be 'plastic surgery'.
She also had excess skin surgically removed. People consider that to be "plastic."

That's one hell of a transformation.
I know! I watched her videos and she kept getting smaller and smaller. It was amazing. More than that though, she became more confident and obviously more happy.

anyone who has been overweight knows its a struggle, and not an easy one at that. to me this isnt overcomming your selfesteem issues in a way that can really help you. my cousin and his wife both have had this done, and while each of them has lost probably 150lbs a piece, i want to punch them both.
not cause im jealous, but because they tell people how hard its been to lose all that weight. its not hard, you cheated, you didnt have the will power to eat small portions and work out. to even begin to try to lay claim that you have worked hard at this would be like pam anderson saying god gave me nice tits

Her husband has got to be a happy dude.
Remionds me of that 30 Rock when Jack starts dating the Senator from Vermont and he finds out that the plastic surgery she had after her gun accident had made her face much more beautiful than it was before the accident. Jack compliments her by saying, "I thought you made love like an ugly girl."

Really? How is that inspirational? Fat lady, most likely terribly irresponsible (one for getting into this situation by not controlling herself, two by spending absurd amounts of money on vanity), unable to motivate herself to lose weight the normal way, unable to come to terms with reality that she shouldn't be a size 0 ever, just so happens to have lots of money and so now she's skinny again. She got a temporary cure. Woohoo.
Give me a real inspirational story: give me one legged men running marathons, cancer patients dedicating their lives to public service, give me AIDS victims out the wazoo, give me child soldiers, give me abuse victims, give me recovered drug addicts, give me anything but a whiny ex-fat girl.

i mean, i didn't read anything about this story or watch the videos but i agree with the principle of your post.
I watched about a minute and a half of the first one. "Wah, I ate too much and didn't exercise for years, and now I'm realizing that there are consequences"

Damn. Mickey is being an ass today.
Sorry, I lack sympathy for people who's problems are self-inflicted and who opt for an easy way out when there are millions of people with real suffering in the world. My heart goes out to Darfur and the slums of Mexico City, not middle-class Cleveland where your biggest problem is "Wah, I look bad". And let's not get into the genetics issue--some people are genetically bigger than others, yes, but no one is genetically overweight since overweight is relative to a person's body type.

You can feel sympathy for who ever you want. I don't feel sympathy for the gal in the video. I feel happy for her that she did something about her weight issue, no matter the route.
I'm not going to demoralize her individual story.

You are being rather judgmental and assuming a little too much Mickey.
It is interesting that you said she took the easy way because she had money. Do people not labor for their money to do what they please with it? Of course she may not have earned that money. Perhaps her mommy and daddy gave her everything, or maybe she is leeching off the taxpayers like so many these days. I really don't feel the need to examine it any further though.
It just seems like you're being whiny because has money to throw around, and then toss in the classic 'there are people suffering in third world countries, so we're all selfish bastards' argument.
