So there's this girl and we've been hanging out a lot since we got back from winter break and I decide, well, I'm gonna ask her on a date, you know? This is after I go through a couple days of ehh maybe ehh maybe not ehh how do I do this ehh what if she says no ehhhhhhh, you know?

Anyway, I call her and I'm nervous as hell and she picks up, and she's somewhere where there's other people. So we go hi how are you, etc etc and then the awkward starts:

Me-"So um, I was calling to see if you wanted to hang out at all this week?"

Girl- "Yes, let's"

Me- "Ok, well, I mean, uh, I have class um all day tomorrow basically"

Girl- "Me too, but I have a break from 2-5?"

Me- "Oh no, I'm 11-5 straight through but uhhh I mean, would you want to go to dinner with me on Friday?"

(I can't quite remember what she said here, but I'ma do my best)
Girl-"Yeah."

Me-"Ok!"

Girl-" Is this like, you paying for me, is that what this is?"

And this is where it gets painful

Me- "Well um, yes? I mean, yes, I think so? Yes."

Girl- "Umm ok."

M-'Um is that weird?"

Girl-"A little (I think)"

Then we talked about time, apparently she's going out of town that night, I dunno if that's good or bad. Either way, I'm pretty nervous now; she said yes but it was super awkward on the phone.

And I'm not exaggerating the number of umms and uhh there were here.

Don't worry, by drink #2 for her all awkwardness should be forgotten.

That was my perception as well. I've known this girl for over a year but until the past few weeks it was always group situations.

Yeah, but if he had said, "Will 300 bucks about cover it for you?", it would have broken the tension of the phone call. It might have ENDED the phone call, but it would have broken the tension.

I told you in that other thread, I'm super fucking awkward about these things. The difference here is that I take action about it and THEN start a thread instead of just starting a thread. Also the fact that I hooked up with one of my best friends from high school at a party Saturday night. But that was a mistake. A very very fun mistake.

Then the lady like thing would have been to ask, "Are you asking me on a date?"

Not, "Are you paying for me?"
