And so it begins the journey through the backspacer landscape

that one eludes me, 62stratutory

Perhaps one is to blame the Steve Jobs Standard issue ear buds for the lack of excitement towards the sonic masterpiece that is commonly referred to as "backspacer" ?

i seriously doubt i'll ever intentionally listen to either of pearl jam's most recent albums again

Simply plugging them into my laptop has made all the difference.

These are great and I have a hard time imagining hearing a huge difference to the next level. at least for home listening. I've been in studios and heard beautiful music blasting through surround sound...

but bringing it down to headphone level.... is it really worth it? Curious and mostly looking for a reason to drop $300 on a pair of dome cones

I haven't heard those ones specifically strat, but these Senns sound so much more natural than any other pair of $100 studio monitor headphones I've ever tried.

The sound field is incredibly detailed. The fact that they're open back definitely helps that too.

I use different headphones for my iPod just because these are open-ear headphones. They're not really suitable for going outside, especially if you take public transportation, since the sound bleeds out.

At home, I have them hooked up with a 50-dollar headphone amp, but that's only because my computer's sound card isn't the greatest.

I wouldn't completely discount it, but because they're open back you're going to get outside noise if there's a lot going on.

I brought them on the plane to Europe (not even close to a subway or bus, I know) and it made the flight so enjoyable. I just got lost in sound for 6 hours.

I used them outside for a couple weeks and the sound is still great but honestly, it's not the best use for them. Being open-ear, there's a lot of noise bleeding in and out. Unless you like the sound of your surroundings to mix into the music (and pretend it's some sort of citypiece concept album), they're best for home use.

I use these headphones for outside; they're pretty decent sound and really cheap. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-HTX7 ... ic+rp+htx7

The good news is, you won't accidentally walk in front of a bus.
