Again, they're really not necessary. I just use them because my computer's sound card is kinda weaksauce.

Most hi-end cans won't be used to their fullest potential with a standard computer soundcard or the pre-amp on a portable music player, so mini-amps are good if you want to really exploit all they have to offer.
