My favorites have to be the AKG K240 ...whenever I have them on I completely forget that I'm wearing them, to me they sound like speakers. Lovely. They are pretty open, though, so everyone around you hears everything too!
although strangely I don't like the newer versions they've made, give me the old school ones any day.

I have a $250 gift card (one of the credit card company ones you can spend anywhere) and I think I want to spend it on a nice pair of cans. Anyone (McParadigm, theplatypus, anyone else?) recommend anything?

In all seriousness, I have a pair of Audio-Technica's that cost about 150 bucks. They sound really nice. Before these I had a pair of Sony's that I got for around 200 that were awesome. I stepped on them and broke them. :/

I have a pair of Audio-Technica's as "the good headphones" which are beautiful, both in sound and comfort, and just bought a pair of Alessandro MS-1's as my lawn-mowing headphones. They have been real nice so far, and inexpensive.
