My apartment smelt kinda funny last night. Kinda like garbage, but there wasn't a ton of trash. Also, my water heater makes kinda hissy sounds after you take a shower, but I usually figure that's just the water running through it. It didn't occur to me until now that it could be a gas leak...could it be a gas leak? I mean, I'm still alive, and I was using appliances last night and this morning.

Light a match/lighter and walk all over the house with it. If you don't blow up, no leak.

You're welcome.

I'm exhausted, but I only got 4-5 hours of sleep. I checked the stove this morning and everything was off. When you say check the pilot light, what does that mean?

tired from all the college cock youre pulling now, no doubt

anway, the broiler part of your stove. open it, look towards the back, you should see a blue flame. that is the ovens pilot light. if you lift up the top of your stove where the burners are, on each side of the stove you should see two small flames. those are the pilot lights for the burners.

unless of course you use an electric stove

there is usually a little square opening at the bottom of hot water heaters with some doo dads sticking out from it. best bet is to turn off all the lights in the basement and take a look at the bottom of your tank. if you see flame, youre good to go.

unless you have a electric water heater

They both run off gas but they're pretty new so they're probably electric.
