yesterday i was on the bus on the way home and this guy wearing a big, bulky backpack gets on the bus and sits in front of me. he's carrying a little book which he opens and starts browsing and it's all arab characters, and that's when i start freaking out. big backpack+arab book=suicide bomber right? i swear this has never happened to me before, i became convinced within nanoseconds that this guy was going to blow up the bus, and nobody realized it but me. after about half a minute in which i even broke a sweat i started to think again: 1. the guy is wearing like the whole spanish football team sports catalogue at the moment (jacket, jersey, sweatpants). 2. he's white. 3. what kind of statement would anyone make by blowing up a puny li'l bus in montreal? 4. he sat in the back of the bus, if he really wanted to maximize damage, i think he'd want to sit towards the middle of the bus.

i safely got off the bus three stops later.
