Degrees of effort will be matched by degrees of reward, based on any given amount of expectation.

Apathy is for nothing, which is sometimes useful.

Study Exercise 44:

Give an example of a situation in which apathy may be useful. Explain thoroughly.

As I mentioned, based on degrees of expectation.

Not an answer Im questioning ? At the highest degree, If you have no expectations for yourself... but your actions are for everyone else... the expectation would be for everyone sharing your actions to move in the direction (herd) them you want them to go. So therefore, if your efforts for lets say, Peace, there will be a divide, those who do not want Peace will move in a different direction. That would be the outcome of your expectation.

They decide their own fate. No turning back. There is no inbetween.

What I meant is: If a high degree of effort is exerted, the equally high degree of reward will be there if there is a desire to or understanding of how to accept it.

If tree_ starts a thread and nobody is around to read it, does it still confuse people?

Apathy could prove to be personally useful, if you ever find yourself invited to attend a pentecostal snake dancing church. Snakebites would totally suck.

Here's an example of what I'm getting at:
Some people I know (not me) when faced with a salesperson are unable to tell that person they aren't interested in what the sale is. Let's say the saleswoman is a Mary Kay Cosmetics lady (suffering from multiple sclerosis) who really wants to own a pink car. Rather than simply owning up to the fact that they wouldn't choose to purchase that makeup, they would rather be seen as interested to check it out at the very least. Give the lady a chance even though they know full well they'll end up spending money they don't want to spend.

To make matters worse, they do end up buying make up they don't need because they were invited into that saleswoman's home to test and view the products. Even though they're a captive audience they then don't want to be seen as wasting the saleswoman's time.

A few days later after they've purchased an overpriced supply of makeup, they go to check their bank account and they have no money left in it because the Mary Kay Lady triple charged their debit card by mistake and now they have overdraft fees to contend with.

Moral of the story: Apathy could help you avoid being 'politely' mugged.

Not to mention that it made no sense and revolved around the most bizarre definition of apathy I've ever come across.

Study question 44.5:

In reference to JT's Laws of Nature, what is the difference between apathy and ambivalence?
