Probably still my rickroll... but maybe not.
As you know, I have been begging people to watch Homicide:Life on the Street for over 5 years now. People have watched some episodes here or there... but no one has found the time to truly love the show on a deep level. Anyways one of the things i made sure to do when i was involved in the password switch with theplatypus, was to extol the virtues of the show under a different name. He's a respected fella, so i figured it might get someone to consider it.
and it worked! Washing Machine and i had a facebook chat about it, and he seemed interested in it. So he gets the disc and i get one of my favorite PM's ever- he watched it and loved it! I was so happy and excited, after all this time, someone to talk about my favorite show with. I assume this was all sincere not schtick.
I make a decision to do a nice thing this morning- I was going to send Washing Machine, as a surprise, my burned copies of the entire series. Probably 30 discs or so. Anyways, this was probably 9am, so the pickings were slim to get his address. I reached out to theplatypus on facebook asking if he had Washing Machines address... and he said he did. So after a moment, he responds with the address. In my excitment of course i paid no attention to the details of the address. I happily wrote it on my half assed craft project that was turning a grocery bag into shipping paper.
I ask the platypus to keep it a secret, which he does. I head off to the post office, since wednesday is my usual day off, and mail it to the address given. I spring the extra couple bucks to make it priority so he gets it this week.
and spent the rest of my day eagerly anticipating our discussions about Lewis, Bayliss and the rest of the baltimore homicide unit.
Then i think about the address... and the lack of an apartment number. I noticed it earlier, but brushed it off in my excitment. then it bothered me more, but i didnt want to admit it. I confirmed with another member that in fact the address given was incorrect.
1 excited day, and $8 later and an Angela S*******R in houston is getting a lot of dvds.

I'll just make this one post in this thread because I actually kind of feel bad about this.
- I didn't want to pull a "prank". I didn't think you were serious in asking me, of all people, for Reid's address... so I just gave you some random Houston address with the same last name as Reid, without really thinking much of it. - I was also at work while we talked on FB, so I didn't really pay close attention to what you were saying. How this makes things any different, I don't know. - You really should've double-checked it. I would've.
Sorry I made you lose money. I'll Paypal it to you if you want.

Jorge bumping that thread was the reason I read it, but he had nothing to do with why I started watching it. Your convo and my current reading choices (2666) had a lot more to do with it than him.

I am not in anyway mad or offended, nor do you have anything to apologize for. its $8. Ill drink a beer that is not mentioned in the beer thread this weekend instead of some micro nonsense to make up for it
Should i have double-checked? Probably.. but sometimes you get so excited you dont want to slip that condom on, platypus.. you just want to make sure the recipient gets it as fast as possible.
