I did, for a little while when I was in high school, and went back in 2005. It's my second-favorite city ever (second only to Buenos Aires, where I've lived for 5 years).

I used to and love that city. I was relatively close to the downtown area, east of I-35 and just off of 38th street. Right by Fiesta and Monarch. Rent was SO cheap and the neighborhood was great. I hope you enjoy it. Definitely talk to Nate (Orpheus); he still lives there.

If there is a God and attacking Komiscjelli hasn't accrued me too much bad karma, then with his help I'll be in Austin next fall, but it's a huge long shot.

That would be awesome if you got into UT. Are they as competitive for poetry as fiction? Go to the Harry Ransom Center; their archival stuff is out of sight. Plus if you get in I'll probably go down there so you can show me around the Michener Center. I always walked by there and thought, so that's where it happens.

2-3% acceptance out of over a thousand applications. Fiction is less than 1%.

So you're hoping for a boner out of chaos. Like, a miracle.

Where exactly are you working? I have family members living relatively northwest and I know the whole city pretty well, so let me know if you have any questions. I love it here for what it's worth.
