when someone addresses me with it, to me it seems like that person is saying "i'm a stupid fuckin moron who can't figure this shit by myself"

maybe this would make more sense if you wrote it in French?

the phrase "please advise". mostly in work emails

it's a fucking cliche. stop using it. when someone else uses it, if you can advise, do so, otherwise understand you don't know what the person's intent is

i just think if you have confusion about it, you shouldn't use it. that's about all you can do. and don't try to interpret other's meanings, as i mentioned before

I use this term all the time at work and have never really thought much about it. Now i'm wondering how it is received maybe i am going to have to rethink it and come up with a new saying like 'you're an idiot who couldn't write a sentence to save yourself, get back to me when you grasp the English language'

I've used something similar to this recently. Only because, "Your (insert position name here) is a helpless twit and completely useless" is not appropriate to the CEO.

Yeah, I use it all the time too. It is kind of a passive-aggressive way of saying "hurry the fuck up and give me an answer on THIS, THIS"

yeah, i've actually come to appreciate the ambiguity, it can mean one thing when it comes from me and i can interpret it a different way when it comes from someone else.

in short, it helps keep me sane.
