This afternoon, I cooked up Chud's shrimp and rice recipe and enjoyed a lunch with my new next door neighbor. Conversation was mostly centered around classical music, and i was surprised at how easily I was able to fake my way through a discussion of Chopin's Nocturnes since I only own two or three classical LPs (one of which is Chopin, to be fair).
I like this guy. He's just incredible scatterbrained.

I ended up cooking it today and it turned out great. I used too much heat at first, but chud's recipe said to crank it up to high. Also, i subbed evoo instead of the balsamic. I'll be making this one again, but I 'll probably add some fresh vegetables and more seasonings to play around with. I'm thinking a little bit of bell pepper and onions would suit this recipe nicely.

Reid, the great thing about that dish is you can modify the ingredients however you want. Lately I've been replacing the balsamic with lemon juice (squeeze out half a lemon) and using slightly less worcestershire. Also, throwing in a tablespoon or two of butter is nice.

It's really nothing to get upset over. I mean, I came up with this by just using what was in my kitchen. The true beauty is using whatever you think will work out of the things you have. Maybe try some cajun powder in it next time.
