Good morning dear friends of RM,
I would like to have some help for the next 4 months from you. You see, last year on 9/11 (if you know me, you know what the date means to me... Kitchener) I met this fantastic girl and we've been slowly building some fundaments for something beautiful, something longlasting. But now, she's been taken away from me. Well, not exactly. She's off to Nepal/Tibet for 4 months. It was always one of her biggest dreams to go there and it's something I fully support and I'm happy for her. But well... she's really gone now till early March.
And while many have their doubts that I can "wait" for her, I really don't have a single doubt. I know I've said quite a few times in the past that I thought I had found "the one", but well... They all disappear into nothing. Thanks to her rich parents, they've agreed to pay for most of her trip, which makes she will hardly need all the money she worked for and saved the last months/years. So she asked me if I would want to do my dream West USA trip with her next May/June. It speaks for itself that I was absolutely delighted. We've agreed on the basic itinerary and she gave me go-ahead to plan everything into detail while she's away. So I certainly have that to look forward to and to fill my time with. But other than that, how do you 'kill' 4 months? I have a long month of November in which I have concerts of Sigur Ros and TV on the Radio to look forward to. I have December with my birthday and Christmas. I have January with lots of New Year family dinners. Then I have the short month of February, with her birthday. And then it's March, the 3rd I'm seeing AC/DC, the 4th she's back...
Do I write her lots of letters? Look up old friends that I haven't seen in a while? Go out a lot even if I don't feel like going out? Pffff. I even gave her my first copy of Yield with. Every year I stop listening to it in the winter and then on the first day of Spring or the first sunny day of the new year, I go for a ride and blast Yield. Next year, we're doing that together...
She left this morning and I'm already counting the days...

i'll give a better response tomorrow once im sober, but stay in touch with her for sure-letters and stuff, but at the same time dont let your life come to a standstill. Keep on with what you want to do...go out and what not. just staying at home is not going to make her come back any faster. and staying home and brooding about it will make you crazy.

Belgium has good beers, right?
I have 4 months to go until I move away from this country and can't be arsed at all to find a girl to muck around with. I plan on spending a fair bit of time at the Belgian cafe to drink.
In your circumstances, I'd spend a huge amount of time overplanning the crap out of the trip to the point where there's zero spontaneity when you're on it. But that's just me.

you could also start a diary for later.
groetjes, Mirella
