There are so many people at work using these space heaters now that it's making my cube so warm and hot that my face is bright red by the end of the day.

It's not even the temperature that bothers me the most - it's the dry heat that emits from these dangerous things that's causing all the trouble.

How do I combat this? I have a fan blowing right now, but that's not working. I looked into buying a mini USB connected air conditioner for my desk. It might be time to pull the trigger on that.

Ugh.

Sometimes I've heard about people hiring eskimos to sit on their face. But I'm not sure A) how practical that is, especially at work, and B) how serious peole are about having tried this. It feels like a set up to a joke to me.

Hope that helps!

Before you leave tonight, take a scissor to the cords. Mission accomplished.

Good thought and it's the right move, but politically, I'm not ready to do that yet.

Wait, forget my last suggestion. This one's better. Talk to Tobby.

Oh.

Huh.

Maybe try the eskimo thing, then. That or duckling's suggestion.

Who wouldn't want that sitting on their face? No one I wanna know, that's who.

If you talk to HR, then everyone knows who did it, because I am the one who is warm while the rest (mainly females) are cold.

Can't we all just get along at 72 degrees?

When did 75-77 become the new 72?

problem with destruction of personal property is you gotta make sure it cant be traced back to you. posts on RM would do him in. They've already got uglyduckling.

theres an article about how men are generally warmer than females. I think through anecdotes they conclude that the correct solution is the cooler temperature and the cold people can put more on because the warm ones cant work naked.

I'm going to print this and show it to my boss. Thank you.

Really, its a compromise that everyone can be fine with. Its shitty to make one person suffer when the majority of the people can just put on a sweater or warm socks

Completely agree. And yet, my boss still insists on cranking up the heat in our office. Eventhough she's really the only one who feels "chilly."

I've had to HR manage our HR manager before. Also, being an internet moderator can bring that out in a person as I am sure you know full well.
