I haven't submitted yet since there were issued bc of the tax law being added so late. I filed with turbo tax last year and got a refund of almost 4k. My income only went up by 3k, and my deductions are about the same a last year. I am married filing jointly as i did last year. So i expected a refund close to that this year, however when i did my taxes on sunday it says i owe $400. I don't know how a 3k increase in income can result in a $4400 swing. I am wondering if something isn't right with turbo tax. Is anyone else having issues like this. I'm hoping it's just an update that hasn't gone through yet.... I'm getting 750 back in state which is about right bc of what i got back last year. I just don't understand why my federal tax swung so much.

I used TurboTax. It was pretty easy. Did you enter something incorrectly?

no everything was entered correctly. it pretty much matched up exactly with last year. it has 2010 and 2009 side by side on the summary. just cant understand the big swing unless i don't have an update that was added to correct the tax law issues. I tried to do online updates but it said mine was up to date. i have been getting updates every now and then since i first installed it however.

everyone thinks people didn't have enough withheld, moved into higher tax bracket or that the stimulus played a part.
