I'm heading to DC at the end of March. Where must I go?
Does Georgetown have a strip of bars and restaurants? How do I find that?
I'll be staying here, and I assume that I'll be dependent upon the subway for transportation.
Also, is it possible to buy a visitor's pass for the subway?

I already answered that last question via Google. Thanks!

I've been there once. It was in the middle of April and there were dead spots of grass all over the Capital lawn. I remember thinking, "this is our nation's capital and we can't even water the f'in lawn?"

Went there for PJ in '08. Hot, humid, miserable day weather-wise. Only had a few hours to take in the sights, but it was worth it. The Vietnam Memorial is great. Don't drive yourself, unless you absolutely have to. We got lost with a GPS, trying to get to BMI Airport. I think I'm a good navigator, but driving there is the worst experience I've ever had.
H St. is kinda out of the way, and not very metro accessible, so that may not be a good option for you. However there is a beer garden, and since you like beer, you may want to check it out:
You may also want to check out either The Black Cat (http://www.blackcatdc.com/), or the 9:30 Club for some live music. The Black Cat is also just a bar, so you can avoid the cover charge of seeing a band, and just drink.
Still though, and oddly enough, Bourbon has the best beer selection of the lot.
Georgetown is alright, but honestly I avoid it. Very touristy, very collegy, I hate the fucking cupcake place (http://www.georgetowncupcake.com/), and there are a lot of the popped collar types that hang in G'town. I don't know, it may be your thing, not sure, but I'm not a fan. Having said that...there are some great restaurants there, and if you like pizza, this is a great place:

Hey, that's how it goes when you travel on the company's dime.

As for other things to do, most of the obvious touristy stuff really is worth doing. The National Gallery of Art is probably my favorite of the various museums around the Mall. Not very kid-friendly, though. For that you want the Smithsonian, although that place is always fucking mobbed.

Also, since you're tourists from the South, I recommend driving around and around various traffic circles with a slack jawed, totally lost look on your face.

It's really cool to go to the Smithsonian museums during the Winter. Taking a "sick day" from work on a Monday during the winter is the perfect time to go.
The National Gallery is awesome. Last time I went they had a Norman Rockwell collection that were owned by Steven Speilberg and George Lucas. They also had Elvis at 21 going on, so that was really cool to see.
