1. nah – After many bouts of intermittent posting over the past year or so, this poster came back with a vengeance and has inundated the General Discussion forum with Zen koans, family picture albums, and courageous flouting of grammatical strictures. In spite of snubbing his own interview thread, he offered revealing glimpses into his life in lennytheweedwhacker’s “I have a huge zit on my forehead thread.” Despite posting his driver’s license, describing sexual history, and offering a photographic approximation of his life, Kevin Casey is still dogged by rumors and accusations of being a second account. How long will the mystery persist? Will “RM Interview #131: nah” remain unvisited by the man himself?
2. lennytheweedwhacker – After months of absence, he returned. His hiatus and subsequent return were so seismic that we are now in what has been dubbed by some as the “post-lennytheweedwhacker return era.” He has eased comfortably back into the General Discussion posting routine, but will he reassert his dominance? He faces stiff competition from Number Three on this week’s rankings, another exile who has returned home.
3. Mickey – He left RM after 20,000 posts, as he had promised. But his return signaled to the Red Mosquito community that the “retirement” was not to be. Mostly talking hockey and books since his return, he has yet to acclimate himself to the GD lifestyle.
4. Dev – Hand-wringing regarding sexual orientation brought this poster a significant amount of attention in the past week. The “thinking about coming out of the closet to my gf tomorrow” thread attained an impressive post-to-view ratio and has remained controversy-free. A recent visit from old nemesis LittleWing has yet to spark a fracas, but the thread is on shaky ground. His “name one time you made a wrong call about a board” illustrates good grasp of thread concepts.
5. Beef – The lowercase, insular, seemingly exclusionary posting style came under vitriolic attack from this poster, causing a firestorm and nearly splitting the RM community in half. A most effective attack poster, Beef has proven to be a voice to the voiceless, a mouthpiece for the fed-up and unheralded posters. Is she a voice of reason or a menace? Both? Neither? Regardless of the answer, she has risen to mythic levels of antagonism.
6. withoutrings – The poster formerly known as jcurley has quietly asserted dominion over the Technical Support forum, all but making the forum his own. “Good connections,” “Bad connections,” and “The Decline/Fall of the Roman Empire” each contain the trademark withoutrings verve, that quiet wit, those non sequiturs spoken to the world at large, to no one in particular. Will the RM community take notice of withoutrings’ achievements and add fuel to the spark in the oft-neglected forum?
7. Stip – His “Is there consensus?” series in the Pearl Jam forum concluded, capping a long-running and much-appreciated contribution to the board. The experiment revealed honest opinions of Pearl Jam’s discography and spurred more than a few arguments about the merits of particular songs and albums. The series, along with the guided tours and “Let’s actually listen to the albums” series, illustrates this posters insistent commitment to fostering Pearl Jam-related discussion.
8. Green Habit – This poster once again proved his value to the Sports forum with “The 2011 RM NFL Mock Draft” thread, currently totaling 22 pages and counting. He once again has his finger on the pulse of RM’s sports fan community.
9. bring_down_red – A link spammer? A provocateur? A genuine contributor? What started as a pitch for t-shirts has blossomed into a legitimate posting career, most notably illustrated by the “favorite childhood movies?” thread, a 4-pager of on-topic content.
10. Pizza the Hut – Her “Thread where you type things but don’t post them” is the only non-Kosmicjelli thread to get significant attention in the Release forum in recent weeks.
