Ok, this has been pissin me off for a lil while now and I"m just wondering if anyone else sees it.

I've been a subscriber to Maxim for a few years now. I first bought an issue back in 98 thought it was great, tons of content, great humor and lots of fabulous women barely dressed, just as a magazine should be. For awhile, i thought it was the greatest mag out there.
Then I started noticing something: the magazine seemed to be getting smaller. Then an editor change. Then the content started disappearing, no more Circus Maximus, the "How To" section got smaller, less attractive women started making the cover(Fergie, Duff, Mariah Carey I'm lookin at you!) Now with the most recent editor lookin to make more bank, the mag is about a third as big as the original, which was almost the size of a catalogue, and the layout almost looks like fuckin Cosmo! And more ads. Why are people still paying the same price for less content?
Oh and another thing! As subscribers, we don't get the seperate add on, a la Maxim Top 100 they include on the newstand. How's that for subscriber loyalty.

Another thing that's bugged me is the Maxim cover price in the US being quite less than the Canadian one. We pay about 5.99$ for an issue, even though the dollar is only 6cents difference from the US one. FUCKING BULLSHIT!!

Not to mention the fact that Maxim even says "We sometimes make our subscriber list available to companies that sell goods and services by mail that we believe would interest our readers." in small print in the mag AFTER you subscribe. How kind of them.

But the last straw was this years #1 in the Hot 100...LINDSEY FUCKING LOHAN! ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!! The fucking cokehead trainwreck is #1???!? Of course, Maxim tries to backpeddle and says "We mean that she's a hot newsmaker of the year".....i think that translates into "We fucked up and this is how we handle our fuckups"
Even we here at RM got the Hottest babe competition right and picked Scarlett with Elisha Cuthbert as runner up! How fucking hard was that???

And as if they knew of my displeasure with them, who's face do I see on the newest issue to show up in my mailbox yesterday? Yup, you guessed it, the cokehead, Lindsey Lohan. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so embarassing.
Needless to say, I won't be renewing next year, but they'll send me about a dozen renewal forms t'il then anyway.

So, for those of you who read Maxim, agree or disagree?

yeah dude, i'd be pissed off too if my favorite magazine has a different opinion than mine. how dare they amirite?

Granted, it's a matter of preference when it comes to women, however my biggest beef is the lack of content and value when the price stays the same.

i always liked Stuff better. It was always much sillier and they had music reviews for Fantomas and stuff like that. Then they got a new editor, took out all the really absurd articles and humor and put in a shit ton of ads. i let that subscription lapse, as i did with maxim

I read just the other day that Stuff was going to be discontinued after the issue with lil Trump. I had no idea it was tanking that badly, but it just goes to prove my point.

You guys know they have these kinds of magazines where the girls take off all their clothes right?

I picked up a Maxim recently at a friends house and flipped through it and near as I can tell it's gotta be for kids that can't buy real porn yet. There was no substance at all.

I used to like Maxim, Stuff, and FHM in high school and then after awhile I realized that every issue was the same thing and that most of the content was worthless throwaway stuff.

playboy is $12 a year you know.

Playboy's never gonna get the Maxim cover girls we want to see to go naked, hence why Maxim used to be a high seller.
Though if they get Cuthbert, Rihanna,Branch, Aguilerra and Ambrossio to strip and pose, I'll pony up the 12$. 12.50$ if they get Avril.

in the past few years i haven't read it, just cause it hasn't been all that great. i really don't care all that much.

if you're looking for quality literature, do you really believe "reading" a magazine with half naked chicks on the cover is the way to go about finding this?

Funny, I don't remember saying anything about Maxim being quality reading. But keep trying. Once I'm done reading the 9/11 Commission Story, I'll get back to you.
