MY best friend who I have known since we were in high school (1994) told me yesterday that he and his wife have become swingers.
I knew something was going on, but I thought they were having problems. (Not that this isn't a problem, but they don't see it being one)
Anyway....He tells me his wife is fucking some dude, and he has been banging her neice (!) and they have been going to parties at swapping. He then tells me he has watched her with a dude, and her friend has watched them, and a bunch of other stuff that I am trying to block out. Now there are people I know that I know the watched/fucked/traded/whatever. How do I deal with that?
Here is the thing....I'm all for whatever people want to do, but they have kids ages 5 through 18. Tell me these kids arn't gonna be fucked up (more that they are)
So I think I've seen them for the last time. I don't know how to deal with this. I want to smack him around and tell him to get back to reality and to not fuck up his kids. And I don't want to be in a position that they ask US to do anything, because I will get violent.

Ppl are trying to be too funny in here sometimes...not really the right thread I reckon
OP, I can imagine you're being worried. I think it is self-destructive behaviour, but hee I am all for monogamy. I have seen ppl in open relationships and it just never worked out. But maybe it does for some ppl. However, it is their life (at least as long as nothing illegal is going on). If you are real close friends I guess you should be allowed to give your opinion on the matter (in a respectful way) and tell them about your concerns for their kids.
If ppl tell me these things I give them my honest opinion. It is up to them how they take that. And of course it influences my idea of them, they should realise that too.
I can understand that it feels strange to remain friends with ppl who have a different outlook on something that is fundamental to your way of living. Sometimes it does not have to get in between your friendship, sometimes it does. Just be honest and see how it goes from there.

That's what I hated about the seventies. In my opinion many people were like that back then. Even though my parents did not join the hype, they did get divorced, and that's what I don't like about it. Most of the times it just doesn't work out for one or more of the people who do things like that and then it's too late to get back to normal again. Leading to divorces, fights, and confusion. Anyway, they are grown ups and I'm all for sexual freedom. If you can not bother and they don't want you 'in', why lose the friendship over this?
Good luck with whatever you decide.
groetjes, Mirella
