The last few times I tried on dress pants I couldn't get in a 32. Jeans I still can.

I understand that. For me I think 33-31 is the perfect size, but I couldn't find that in a store. I did find some 33-30 jeans a few weeks ago.

conditional on the particular brand, i find a 31-32/32-32 cut accords my physique all the flattery one could reasonably expect to shake a stick at

I wouldn't mind some pale khaki chinos. Ordering online would probably hinder my strict "only buy things on clearance" lifestyle.
