Doug, some friends and I were having a discussion about the pronunciation of jambalaya last weekend while enjoying some actual jambalaya by a campfire. How do you say it?

jum bl eye uh

this is slightly different from "jum bull eye uh," which is how i pronounce it, but i'll just assume you made a drunken typo

We do things like hike a stretch of the Lone Star trail, cook things like the aforementioned jambalaya, pass around a few growlers and assorted bottles of beer, and play a dangerous game called "fire wager."

i beg to differ... your version has three syllables, mine has four. are you telling me you disregard the second 'a' in jambalaya?

i speak how withoutrings posts, so these details are important to me.

Oh there's no brief way to describe this game. Come to El Lago Doble and wager a cord or two...if you dare.

cord of wood?

I just realized that my understanding of what constitutes a cord is much different than wikipedia's. You'd get killed wagering a proper cord, no matter how you play the game. The word I was looking for was probably bundle or armful.
