I think the real lesson of MTV not playing music videos anymore is that we should despise our peers. Despise them and hope to goodness that we aren't subject to a trial by them. After all, they must be (sucessfully) responding to consumer demand if they have remained in business this long after making the transition. Not that music videos are the pinnacle of artistic expression but they are far preferable to reality tv.
