06/22/03 – Verizon Wireless Music Center: Noblesville, IN set: Long Road, Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy, Whipping, Save You, Given To Fly, Cropduster, I Am Mine, Thin Air, Gimme Some Truth, Present Tense, MFC, Habit, Jeremy, Even Flow, Better Man/(Why Can’t I Touch It?), Black, Porch enc 1: Soldier Of Love, Blood, State Of Love And Trust, Do The Evolution, Alive enc 2: Smile, Elderly Woman, Sonic Reducer, Yellow Ledbetter
Cool show...Ed is in a snarky/pissed mood (making fun of the crowd in Better Man and Ledbetter) and the set has some surprises. "I am Mine"->"Habit" is a great, intense section. Ed is FURIOUS in "Gimme Some Truth", spitting the words out. "Jeremy" is standard, and then Matt speeds it up 2X coming out of the last chorus and the rest burns. Ed loses his place for the outro of "Porch", which leads to him making up a last "verse" which actually works amazingly well, and I vote should replace the now ho-hum "yeah yeah yeah" outro his voice cannot handle since 1995. "Blood" after "Soldier of Love" is a great jolt. I went to this and the 2000 show at the same venue, and enjoyed this one much more.
