This was good. I thought it deserved its own thread, instead of being buried in the Dave Was Fired thread.

I wish Pearl Jam could do a Kiss thing and have three drummers...I really couldn't hear Dave doing No Code or Yield stuff, but I really do prefer Dave on the Ten through Vitalogy stuff (especially all of Ten, Animal, and Last Exit). Matt really doesn't do the Jack stuff justice, so have Jack on the No Code and Yield songs. If Matt would go back to his live drum sound from 98 - Euro 2k and start actually playing real fills again (unlike 2003 and on), he really is the only drummer they've had that can play all the material well (I said he doesn't do No Code/Yield justice, but he plays that better than Jack plays pre-Vitalogy stuff).
I don't know. As much as I love Pearl Jam, having seen them 6 times now, I'm going to really have to love the new album to go out of my way to see them again like I did for Boston and St. Louis in 04. I'll definitely see 1 or 2 shows, but I won't be traveling over 250 miles again unless there is a very compelling reason
My top 10 list of things that would make Pearl Jam an even better touring band, in no particular order:
1. Stop playing songs that Ed can't sing properly anymore (Once, SOLAT, Dissident, I Got Shit) 2. Bring back Matt's old drum kit. Start playing fills and with authority. 3. Crank the fuzz back up. You guys aren't the Beatles, don't make your guitars sound like theirs! 4. NO MORE ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD, at least no more than once per leg. 5a. Speaking of covers, limit them to 3 per show please. I want to hear Pearl Jam songs. 5b. SPECIAL EXEMPTION - the artist is making a guest appearance on stage with you. 5c. Some new covers would be nice too, but less necessary if you follow 5a 6. Please Ed, study up on your lyrics this time. If you're going to play the song, you should be able to hit it perfect 9 times out of 10, even when inebriated. Specifically, study up on Even Flow and Wishlist, but there are others too. 7. Most of us love Boom, but most of us DON'T love boom on Red Mosquito or RITFW. Songs that weren't written with a keyboard, don't need one added at this point. Thank you. 8. Don't give No Code and Binaural the shaft! Those are the hardcore fan favorites in many cases! Don't give the excuse that the jock fans won't know them; they only know the Ten and Vs. stuff and Betterman and Last Kiss, anyway. 9a. Assigned fan club seating, please. No more waiting outside for 7 hours to get better tickets. The people who want to hang out will do so anyway. 9b. How about giving fan club members at the show first crack at the poster? I'm tired of having to pay $100 to a poster scalper who doesn't give a shit about Pearl Jam. 10. Give Kat and Sea the boot and hire some fresh blood to run the fan club. Do you really want a couple of snobs who don't even do their job most of the time to be the face of your fan club?
I'm not asking for more rocking songs, less rocking songs, Leash (god help us all), or any other stupid requests. These are more than reasonable things that most fans will enjoy, from what I can tell. Thank you.

This has never been a problem for me, but this isn't a bad idea. Maybe sell them at the ticket window. That would also give you option of running it back to your car, instead of holding it for the whole concert praying against beer spills.

Ha, I'd still love to see all this stuff happen three years and five tours later.

I think the 10C should issue tickets with the members name on it. Then when they enter the venue, they must show some form of ID. Each pair sold comes with 1 ticket with a name on it, and another without a name so you can bring a friend. I've just about had it with scalping.

Genius. I wholeheartedly support 1-8
9 and 10 don't really apply to me, but I think that you have nailed everything that the band could do to tighten up. Taken notes here PJ? I hope so. I used to love listening to their new music and bootlegs. Now I mostly listen to bootlegs from 2003 and prior. There are certainly a few from 2006 that I enjoy as well, but I am mainly a 1998 - 2003 fan.
A couple things I'd like to elaborate on.
Ed - Your guitar tone fuckin rocked in 2000. Bring that shit back! You could actually HEAR it! And it was authoritative! I know you still got it if you wanted it. You little puss.
Mike - Why is your guitar so QUIET and the tone so weak? Turn those tube amps up and start listening to your bandmembers when you solo and try to actually play WITH them rather than OVER them. Evenflow solos were the tits right up until 2005 (obviously there are exceptions) and now it is basically just guitar-diarriah sprayed over Jeff, Matt and Stone who are trying to keep a tight groove despite Mike's random guitar noise and typical fancy tricks that you've been doing for years. It's not even enjoyable for me to listen to anymore. Mike, next time you should just jerk off before you go out on stage. haha I'm cruel I know, but its how I feel.

Ditto.
Also, it seems like the tempo for everything has been jacked up. PJ used to rock a groove, and play a bit slower; I kinda miss that.
Yes, thats a good one too. Maybe they are just incredibly bored of playing some songs and are trying to race through them. They have played evenflow 621 times for christ sake. If boredom is the case, I think they should cease being a band or cease playing certain songs. It's all or none baby.

I find it rather funny that in one sentence we hear "no more RITFW" and the next "turn the fuzz back up"
about the only song getting some major fuzz has been RITFW Check out some of those 2006 versions, Chicago and Boston come to mind, after Stones solo... finally some good old warm fuzzy Rustic Fuzz...
Of all the covers PJ does regularly, RITFW is the only one I still enjoy... Id much rather hear Baba, or Hide Your Love Away put away...
but Mostly what Id love to see is fans stop telling one of the greatest all time rock n roll bands how to get better live...

I say - just for kicks - bring in Jimmy Chamberlain from Smashing Pumpkins to play for a tour/album. As a single drummer, I think he would better nail the Dave and Matt drum songs.

Absolutely!! Actually, I had thought of a similar thing - let PJ print their own tickets (like the Grateful Dead used to do) and in order for you to buy them from PJ, you need to upload an image of your face - so that way your ticket IS your ID!
I do remember though back in '96 at Randall's Island names were printed on the tickets, and tickets were scanned at the gate (now that's a common practice with the scanning).
