haven't heard that show in over ten years..must dig it out.

is the Betterman vocal from this show really the one on the record?
find that hard to believe.

The album version is a combination of the guitar/vocal/organ version included on the Vitalogy reissue and the Atlanta version - the change occurs when the drums kick in on the album cut. There's been additional overdubs of acoustic guitar, etc. after the fact but the basic track is from that live show.

I remember listening to it live on the radio and being completely blown away by that intro music into Release.
Gonna go download this show now. It's been too long.

10/28/00 – Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion: Devore, CA
set: Rearviewmirror, Go, Animal, State of Love and Trust, Given To Fly, Grievance, Corduroy, Wishlist, Nothing As It Seems, Evacuation, Even Flow, Light Years, Daughter/?, Jeremy, Leatherman, Better Man, Nothingman, Spin The Black Circle, Porch
enc 1: Breakerfall, Insignificance, Elderly Woman, Crazy Mary, U, Do The Evolution
enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter

Very nice show...just check out that main set! Intense start with a full-fledged, 7 minute RVM. One aspect of their show that does suffer these days is the lack of inventive "Daughter" tags; I'd say 2000 was the last tour where each one was unique. This one has a nice improv and then a bit of "Trouble". On the other hand, "Porch" jams have vastly improved...this one, like a lot of 2000 versions, just sounds uninspired. Although Mike's approach has changed to some degree, the big difference is that Stone (especially) and Jeff (to a lesser degree) now really push it into a full-fledged jam rather than simply an extended Mike solo. With Ed not able to really push the outro vocals like they deserve (for a long time...since 1995?), this song really is all about the middle.

I'm currently listening to a Canadian 2011 tour compilation. So far so good. As others have noted, these sound great. Matt and Jeff really come through nice, and the guitars sound balanced too (not too loud, not too soft).

The biggest surprise for me so far...I think I like Cropduster now. I have the Hamilton version (not sure if they played it more than that b/c I don't really follow the set list anymore) and it's the best version of the song I've ever heard. For not playing much, the band, really nails it.

I hadn't heard the Stooges cover of "Search & Destroy", and it's awesome. Then again, I'm biased on my opinion b/c I love Mudhoney.

The ad lib line about Stone in DTE (Edmunton) is cool..."admire my son, admire my friend Stone".

Maybe I'm crazy, or maybe I've been too judgmental, but this is the best I've heard the band on a boot in quite some time. This mix I'm listening to is far better than '10 Legs', and any of the boots I have from the past few tours. Ed's warble doesn't even bother too much. The only time it does is during "In My Tree" (wup here in my tree yeah).

I won't get a chance to listen to this properly tonight but it sounds really good.

Interesting show: Alive is the seventh song in the main set, an Ed solo Throw Your Arms Around Me also appears mid-set and they play Blood for the only time in 1998, the last time with Jack Irons and the final time overall until 2003.

I listened to this a few times when it surfaced a couple weeks ago. It's a very good show, but not as good as some of the others on this tour. Ed struggles a bit with his vocals, which is why it surprises me they played "Blood".
I do believe this is the best live version of "Not For You" I've ever heard, though; that alone makes it worth it.
I think I'm going to remaster this just for fun.

Now can we hope and pray the night before surfaces?

Sydney 2003 is the best ever version...one of the earliest when the song was fresh...it's only gotten sloppier as time has passed, though Hamilton is the best version in a long time.

I think I may actually have that. I don't think I've listened to the Aussie 2003 shows since, 2004 or so.

Not that great, but one of the few shows where I liked Fortunate Son.
