What do you think would be the best album if you used the best live versions of each song instead of the studio? My pick:

Binaural. These songs are incredible live. Open with Of The Girl, rocking middle with the faster songs, close it with Sleight of Hand, Soon Forget, and Parting Ways. Brilliant.

The live versions of every Binaural song are better than the studio versions, so that's my #1..

Gotta go with Vs.

Go and Animal are always nice and heavy. Daughter, with the many tags, and RVM with the extended jam in the middle are some of the most powerful Pearl Jam moments for me. Not to mention how powrful Ed can sound on Indifference, and the crowd singing along. Elderly Woman's a good singalong too. Leash seems like it was meant to be played live (though they never do...but hey, it started that way.) And it's always a good moment when you hear the opening of Glorified G. Ed screaming in Blood rocks, especially extended (the Salt Lake 95 performance sticks out to me the most.) And Mike pretty much rocks through Dissident.

And the one time I've heard WMA (the whole song, not the tag), damn that was good. I guess Rats is the only Vs. song I don't really care for live.

I think I prefer Vs. in the studio. I wouldn't say that about any of the others
In a way

Wow, great thread. I agree that everything from Binaural sounds better live except for Insignifigance, but I still dont think it makes the best live album. The best live album IMO is Ten. The production of that album sucks and if everything was re recorded like the evenflow single then it would have been one of the best sounding albums ever, but live these songs are outstanding, especially from the 92-94 era. I made live versions of every album and Ten definitely gets the most play. Also for all the live albums I made I used all the of the live B-sides from that album that I could find to put at the end to take up the rest of the space on the disc. I listen to these more than any single show bootleg I have. I may redo these when GH's live comp comes out.

I'm gonna have to go with Vs. as well. Yield would be my #2 pick and Ten would be #3 for me.

Has to be Binaural. They've played all the songs live from the album and they kick so much ass live.

Gotta be Ten. The greatest PJ album, and the second is VS. YEILD Is third. No Code and Vitalogy last. Binaural and Riot ACt are sup par alll around in my opinion as an old fan.
