Things to consider-

-Ed's voice- in the last few tours (Since 2000 even?) he mails it in sometimes and doesnt really go for it.
-The jam- how long is it? Is Cameron changing up the time sig, or just making noise? Does the band ever lock in and really start a new sounding jam/riff/song?
-Guitar tone- Is it all Ed's half assed distortion? Can you hear Mike and Stone? Is it the bad ass buzz saw distortion we really havent seen since 95-96?

?

Thanks,

M

JB III has a good one

Pretty much any version from 1994.

Don't let the long jams fool you. The song was played too fast when Matt joined and lost a lot of essential elements that made it great in the first place.

I love the newer versions, I have to admit.

Saskatoon 2005.

Underrated, but brilliant. Great tight version of the main song and the jam is very noisy and chaotic - sounds fuckin' great.

I know you probably won't be into it from what you said, but still, it's one of my favourites.

It's all a matter of personal taste, but for me: some songs I like to hear the intence early versions.... others the current, more rehearsed versions.

for example:

Garden (pre-rework) , Indifference, and Oceans : present

Why Go, RVM, Go, and Sonic Reducer : past

syd 1 06.

that holds special meaning for me though, it was the second song at my first show, release just completly blew me away and at the end of rvm ed makes this 'ah yeah' noise just before the final heavy bit and it was then when it hit me that i was at a pearl jam show.

im weird, but you already knew that.

Sydney 1 is my favorite RVMs of recent memory. It is only abou 4 and 1/2 minutes but the energy is amazing.

Anyone from 1994, I'm listening to the one from 3/29/94 right now.

Sydney 1 is fantastic, but I'll nominate Pistoia, Italy as better. Short and intense, like the album version, as it should be (in my opinion).

My two favorites are Hamburg and Saratoga, both from 2000. Absolute brilliance.

Paris 2006 - A very underrated boot, but the RVM in this show is just brilliant. Really intense.

Also S.College 03 is cool
