One of the top concerts in L.A. over the past few years has been Flea's annual Hullabaloo show, a benefit for his SIlver Lake Conservatory of Music -- a non-profit school that teaches music at reasonable costs. But for the first time since its inception in 2001, the bassist and his Red Hot Chili Pepper mates will headline. The event will be held May 5 at L.A.'s Henry Fonda Theater.

Joining the Chilis will be Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder with an acoustic performance, as well as jazz great Charlie Haden and the L.A. alt-bluegrass duo the Ditty Bops.

Hullabaloo has a history rich with noteworthy performances, including a intimate 2005 show with Tracy Chapman and an inspired evening with newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Patti Smith last year. Tickets go on sale April 21through the Silver Lake Conservatory.

What is Ed like solo? Is it just him and a guitar?

Does he do this very often?

Could the South be appeased by sending Ed down there for a few shows? Maybe for worthy causes?

I don't have $250 or $500 to spend on a ticket. So if anyone happens to end up with an extra one... I'll buy the drinks...

could probably cover most of the ticket, but need an experienced taper with a respectable rig.
