Kind of sad to hear Ed's voice on this one, especially after hearing the Monkeywrench radio version back in the mid 90s.
Albany version sounds like a cover band doing PJ.

his voice didn't sound crazy, but i thought the band still sounded pretty tight doing it...what do you expect, he's 41 years old!

Agree with you ledbetter10, the band is doing great job but the lack of intensity in eddie's voice can be caused by the fact that he's reading the lyrics while singing. But it's still a great song .

I just wish Stone had more distortion and Mike remembered the fills.

um...it was WAY better than the abortion at Penn State.

I was at both...nitpicking on the vocals if you ask me...it is hard to GET into a song you have not done in ten years.

me and my friend have fucked around with TRYING to do Satans Bed, I can do the bass alright, He could do the guitar licks alright.....

the Vocals however..... the fraising / spacing is VERY hard on that song, You almost have to tuen the riffs out all together. And the min you stumble / forget a word, YOU ARE FUNKED.....

As Elvis once said before doing "T-r-o-u-b-l-e"
"Its one of those songs that really moves, and if ya miss one of the words ya just have to forget it, because if you try to go back and get it your gonna just end up missing it... the whole song that is. Man I tell ya."

So im betting Ed was consentraiting more on not fucking up the lyrics and turning it into a State College part II, then worring about "oh no, im not sounding as good as i did in 94"

it definitely doesn't sound like 10 years ago but the band was tight and I thought eddie did fine. It won't be one of the all time classics but I'd still love to hear it. Nice use of boom there too.

I didn't really think much about Ed's voice at the time since i was so worked up over the fact that they were actually playing Satan's Bed. I'll have to go back and listen to the bootleg but Ed's voice has changed on a couple of songs over the years hasn't it? He's gotten older. It happens. I still had a blast hearing it and I bet plenty of people there have similar feelings about it.

I assume you are talking about the totality of the Monkey Wrench broadcasts in 1995.

1995 was a watershed year for Pearl Jam as a live band.

But anyone who is not hearing the quality of the performances that have been occuring since the 2003 tour began, I challenge your ability to process music.

Spike, this is not a dig at your personally, so do not take offense.

This band has NEVER sounded better live than the last few years of touring.

NEVER.
