No. First off, he didn't stop because of guitar problems. Ed didn't play because for some insane reason, the crowd picked that moment to become the loudest outdoor crowd I've ever heard. It was bizarre. Secondly, I don't see how this is a fantastic moment, it was weird, but beyond that didn't really do anything for me other than make me notice how damn loud the place was.

I hold no belief that this was louder than the Stone guitar fizz moment in St Paul, 98.

Thanks for posting that. Kinda cool, but maybe this thread should be entitled "Best Moments," because while I'm sure seeing that was an amazing experience, there's always at least one magical moment in every show.

cj ramone joining the band on stage in nyc was better. i wasn't at bonnaroo, but from them opening with hard to imagine to debuting all night to surprising everyone with wma, it had to be better. the crowd singing betterman is nothing new, nor is it spontaneous. it's cool, but it isn't amazing.

From the sound of that video, the crowd sounds loud which is always cool. But just read the fanviews over on the Synergy forum and people are saying they're not exaggerating when they claim that the pause lasted about two minutes because the crowd was going so nuts.
Yeah, the pause lasted about 50 seconds and it doesn't sound THAT loud. I heard things in Europe that were much louder than that!

That recording didn't show shit it terms of the crowds loudness. There was a deafening roar coming from the crowd during that pause.

Minneapolis, actually, for that one. Every show since has been in St. Paul. And, to be fair, that was an indoor crowd. But, yeah, probably the loudest I've heard at a PJ show was that moment.
For the uninitiated- Stone's amp had problems at the beginning of All Those Yesterdays. Ed got the first line in, "Don't you think you oughta rest?" before you hear the amp cackle and fuzz, and Stone stops. Ed remarks, "Apparently, yes!"
What happened next was nothing short of amazing. Ed said something to the effect of, "It's okay, *motions to include the crowd* we'll wait." For the next minute or two, the arena got progessively louder and louder. I was on Stones side of the stage, two rows from the very back of the arena, and I've never heard anything in that arena ever get that loud. The place just went fucking nuts. By the end, Ed said, "I'd hate to be here when you guys win the Finals". Well, Ed, apparently the Timberwolves organization feels that way, too.

Bonnaroo's Betterman had a cool moment with all the lighters. Obviously with such a diverse crowd, the singalong doesn't compare to shows like the one from above, but I was toward the very back of the field and I'd never seen so many lighters in the air as I did during this song. The video doesn't really capture it all that well either, but at least you can see some. Even the still they show is really cool.

for me personally it was getting to hear release. I've heard people talk about their release experience and then listen on the boots and think 'yeah that was good, but I don't see what all the fuss is about." I can't imagine the boots can capture what that was like at MSG II. It was quite possibly my greatest single pearl jam concert moment. I guess you have to be there.
