i missed the no code tour, so this one has been on my must hear list since 1996.

it was everything i hoped it would be, and more. matt nailed the drums and ed's vocals are just out of this world.

i am hoping for it in boston.

I think the band needs to get more comfortable with the song. It sounds different than the album version. I saw it in West Palm Beach. Thought the jam at the end was good.

Agreed.

It's arranged a bit differently, so I can understand trying to get used to playing it again, let alone in a new way.

But still, it was fucking awesome to hear.

It sounds more Jack Irons-ish on youtube

I saw them perform 'Who You Are' in West Palm (and need I tell you how stoked I was!)

I think I differ from the other guys responses. I thought it was totally killer. Yes, it was a bit different than the No Code album version. The whole concert was my favorite of 8 shows.
- For the record, I would totally dig PJ touring more when they aren't promoting an album. In this case, I would like them to take after DMB and tour every summer. Wouldn't that be rad! 8)

it sounded great at Bonnaroo. I was hoping Ed would change the "aforementioned verse" line, but whatever... that's my only problem with that song. i'm glad we finally got some new versions of it. Matt totally nailed it.

It sounds better now than it did 12 years ago with that little extended vocal Eddie tacks on in the end. Great, great song.

Its really a treat to see some of the older material reworked and given new life. Reminds me of what they did with the intro to Garden a few years ago. It sounds like a completely different, revitalized track.

Once my jaw settled in its normal position, I loved it. Definately a lil different from the album version. Wish we could have heard the new WMA. But for me, hearing SAD was just as good.

AFter listening to West Palm Beach, I'm pretty happy with what they did with it. It's far from the original. Drumming is not even close. but it's good. Really good.

I listened back to the couple times I heard it this tour. I think its Eddie's guitar that gives it new life in addition to the jam/improv thats tacked on in the end. If you look up his rig, he has a Jerry Jones guitar/sitar listed in his gear. Its a regular guitar, but there's another set of strings on the body that he can strum to give off that resonance you hear in a real sitar. I have no idea if thats what he's still using, but it sure does sound cool.

Regarding Matt's drumming... It sounds weak, like he's almost unsure of what to play, but he's steady enough that it sounds cool. It sounds like its more delicate than what Jack ever did, but Jack created the drum pattern so he'd obviously play it with more confidence.

Nevertheless, its great to have this one reappear.

When No Code came out, I was 18 years old, and I HATED this song. Over the years, as I have aged, it has become one of my favorites, and I heard it twice this tour, and it sounded great.
