Ya gotta check out those links, chudster.
Good tour, I swear.
See my theory in the 2010 Boots thread that the only reason the 2006 tour isn't salivated over on here is none of the great shows happened in the North-East US. They East Coast leg was kinda okay (with a couple of really good shows in there too, Hartford, Albany and Camden II were great), they started to really warm up on the West Coast leg and were absolutely on fire through Europe and Australia.
It's a shame that it looks like they're done with full-length world tours, I think they need them to really hit a good groove.

I would agree with this. Having said that, Camden 1 and MSG 2 in 2008 were fucking incredible, and every night in Europe in 2009 I attended with the exception of Shepherd's Bush were some of the best PJ shows I've seen. Some of those US 2003 shows I attended (LA 1, Council Bluffs, Little Rock and Vegas) were amazing, too, but 2003 was a pretty big tour as well.

Yeah, I think I'm finding the 2008-2010 boots a bit harder to appreciate cuz I just don't dig the sound of the boots as much - if I'd been at some of those shows, I'm sure I'd think there were some stand-outs too.
I think Ed's voice is one thing that most benefits from a longer tour, which seems like it would be the other way around but hey.

It definitely takes a few shows for his voice to steel up. There's a huge difference between his vocals from the Seattle 2 show from 09 and shows just a week later.

The whole band tend to play a lot tighter the longer they tour. I remember Jeff saying it take 'em about 10 shows to warm up-now we're lucky to get 10 fucking shows without a 6 week or longer break.

I am pleased with the discussion this has engendered but disappointed with the responses.
Not the best thing they did in '06? We're talking Sleight O=>Off He Goes=>Around the Bend=>Parting Ways=>Hard To Imagine=>Crazy Mary=>Alive.
That's not just setting a mood, that's a campfire.
In particular, the Parting Ways/HTI/Crazy Mary segment is unbelievable. Something about Parting Ways into Hard To Imagine just resonates with me, and if you go back and listen to this version of crazy Mary I honestly think its the best the band's ever done (before you tell me I'm full of shit, actually listen to it).
Oh well. To each his own I guess.

I saw that setlist and was like oh shit! and downloaded it, but after I listened to it it's pretty meh. Parting Ways was good, but other than that...

I'll take Grand Rapids '06 over the Philly 2005 encore but that's a great one too. I also like:
Footsteps Once Alive State Of Love And Trust Crown Of Thorns Leash Porch
from Gorge I in 2006. Also not as good as Grand Rapids '06 but still great.
Until I got the bootleg of my first show, Gorge 1 06 was always my favorite boot. That encore is the best encore they have done in a long time IMO. It goes beyond what you listed, a killer Go, Dirty Frank, Baba, RITFW, and a YL/Little Wing/SSB close.
