Do the Evolution is one of my favorite songs. And at one time (98-2000) I really enjoyed listening to you sing this song. But due to your lack of discipline, your smoking has taken it's toll on your voice along with Father Time. Sadly, I listened to you whale away in August and basically you just can't sing this song anymore. It's bad...really bad. I would like to kindly ask you to maybe delete this song as an every night affair and maybe only play it once or twice a tour. Why embarass yourself with the weak high pitched girlly notes that weren't meant to be sang that high?
I'd like to give you an idea: Maybe add a song we don't get to hear often...say... "In My Tree" or "Deep" or "Rival" or "Strangest Tribe". This way we all are happy.

Sorry if I offend you. Honesty and one's opinion should be accepted right?

Thanks,
Dewey

i don't think i'd agree to that. maybe it's annoying on bootlegs, but at the actual shows, during dte, one is usually too caught up in all the fun to notice ed's vocals. the crowd usually will outscream him anyway.

What makes you think he could actually sing "Deep" now? I saw both those songs in 2003 and he nailed both vocally but man, he could barely do it then. I mean, barely. Now? if they were the first two or the last two songs of the show, maybe. Otherwise...probably not.

I swear to god if Ed could quit smoking he might be able to sound like 2000-2003 again. It won't happen, though.

If he doesn't quit smoking, imagine how god awful he is going to sound in 5 or 6 years. Just listen to the difference between 2003 and 2009. That's some serious and quick downhill movements in power, range and ability. Damn. lol As a former smoker I understand his love for the butts though. Oh well.

Okay Matt, eliminate 'Deep'. My point is, rather than hack it around every single night to DTE, throw in a rarity. Maybe sing "Deep" a couple of Octaves lower like he does often on Garden, live.

DTE is one of the best moments of a Pearl Jam show. I respectively disagree despite your well executed post.

That certainly boosted your credibility in the department.

i am soooooooooooooo tired of ed vocal threads. Seriously been going on since 1998.

"so dont post in it"

yea i know, but its the internet and im bored. So right back at ya.

Ed set the bar higher than 99% of other vocalist over time.....so comparing ed now to ed then ...he still is one of the top vocalist ever to grace the musical scene, in my opinion. Still pretty fucking amazing.
