A big thank you to the band who has allowed me to take some of there best music over the last three years and turn it into something special for fans of the band. In the end, this is all about the music and fans, so enjoy and remember this does not replace a bootleg, it just enhances them....

Choice Notes

Disc 1A

Gonna See My Friend (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – After two lackluster Philly crowds the band asks “Are ya ready?” After a thunderous reply, the band drills through there opening number on there new album. I felt it was appropriate to begin the mixer with this version. Ed never got the lyrics right anytime it was played, so I went with what version sounded the best.

Animal – (Philly 2, 10/28/2009) - I don’t why this song comes out so well in the Philly area, but it just does, Camden’s 2008 version was a very close second, but I felt Ed’s vocals and the band were more in sync on this version.

The Fixer (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – When u make a lowlight79 comp, you better put a little fixin’ on it! I thought this really was the best version played all tour, not too fast, not out of tune and it had the right enough of crowd participation.

Comatose (Mansfield, 6/28/2008) – I never considered another version. Matt’s drum pounding is insane on this version. The band is on fire and Ed delivers perfect vocals.

Even flow (Brisbane, 11/25/2009) – its amazing how well this show was after Ed was sick like a dog. Here we have a rocking version of even flow with no crowd attempt on the last verse. Then band hammers this version home, some great guitar work by stone on this track.

Undone (Boston, 5/17/2010) – “Do I start this one?” What a great way to start this track! And the way it sounded at first had epic fail written all over it. But the band recovered well and delivered a nice version in honor of Howard Zinn.

Whipping (Chicago, 8/24/2009) – Dear whipping, I don’t purposely put you on the first disc of my comps, it just seems to happen, I liked this version because it sounds fearless. Ed blows out his voice on this one and band sound really good here.

Not for You (Chicago, 8/24/2009) – After the insanity of whipping ends, it goes right into NFY where Ed decides to let his throat get shredded. I think it added to the version making it much better. I never found any other version to be good, maybe Hartford 2008, but a lot of people liked this version. So it was a fan pick.

You Are (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – After the intensity of the last two tracks, I felt it was time to bring the mix back down to earth with a careful but sweet rendition of You Are. I never thought this would be one of the tracks to reappear, but it did and was played very well.

Rival (Boston, 5/17/2010) – I didn’t have many version to choose from; I felt Boston was slightly better. I wish this tune would get played more, it sounds so good live

Wish list (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – I never really found a version I was comfortable with over the last few years. Some were downright awful, other versions just sounded boring. It was either this one or Portugal. In the end I picked this one because of the extended ending.

Half Full (Toronto, 8/21/2009) - Mike rules this version, from the second it starts to the end of the track. This riot act track has never sounded dull. I loved how McCready owned this track here in Toronto, which is why I picked it.

Lukin (Noblesville, 5/7/2010) - I loved the extended intro for this track and wanted to capture a great full band version of the song with the band on top of there game. Since I have to use this track two more times; I felt why not go with its original form first.

Spin The Black Circle (Seattle, 9/22/10) – This track just doesn’t have the same bite it did in the early years. I am glad they still play it, but it’s no Saratoga 2000. I felt this version upped the ante over any other time played in the last 3 years.

Disc 1B

Golden Age (Ridgefield, 9/26/2010) – Not played more then this one time, but a great version, the only time I will compliment a track featuring Corin Tucker.

Off He Goes (Seattle, 9/21/2009) – In 2006, I picked a rather acoustic version of this track which was slower and more careful. I wanted something different this time. I felt this version featured great guitar work by stone and mike, and was a little more relaxed and loose.

Footsteps (LA 3, 10/6/2009) - As the LA shows all had a different feel and sounded great. I picked footsteps from here because it sounds flawless and reminded me of when they played it in Japan 2003; this song is made for a small room and sounds awesome here.

Man of the Hour (Chicago, 8/23/2009) – To the dude screaming he’s from Chicago the whole song and how he loves it, we get the fucking point. Thanks! Maybe that’s why Ed flubbed the lyrics.

Sleight of Hand (Cleveland, 5/9/2010) – Wow, talk about a fantastic version of this track. I don’t think there was ever any question which one was going to be used. They absolutely nailed it in Cleveland.

Crazy Mary (SLC, 9/28/2009) – So many people are sick of this song and I completely understand, but if you can put aside your hate and realize how great this version actually is, you may end up liking the song again. Mike and boom’s jam has never sounded right and became a predictable ending over the years, but here, they seem to be in total sync.

Super Sonics (Seattle, 9/22/2009) – A nod to the departed Super Sonics. I appreciate the sentiment, as my Islanders may be gone soon enough also.

Sweet Lew (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – The hardest part was where to put this song. I could have sworn that it sounded better at MSG when I was there, but it didn’t translate well on the bootleg, therefore I went with the Philly version.

Jeremy (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) - The hardest part was coming up with a song to go after Sweet Lew. I loved this version of Jeremy because it sounded epic and the crowd really translated well in parts, so it made the mix

Fuckin’ Up (Hartford, 6/27/2008) – This song when it was played was an epic fail in the last few years. The Hartford version on the other hand started out with Stone’s guitar not working, but finished strong with the band really getting going and stone going crazy. A perfect end to Disc 1

Disc 2A

Hard to Imagine (Washington, D.C. 6/22/2008) – “Why are they opening with Hard to Imagine every show, can they stop it already?” Yeah I’ll never for get this quote from a to remain unnamed board member. You want to know how many times it has been played after 2008. Twice! I chose this version as it was just too beautiful to pass up; the song really hit its stride in D.C.

Can’t Keep (Columbia, 6/16/2008) – A much underrated show from the 2008 tour and a very rare appearance from Can’t Keep, Which has been more of a Ghost then the song Ghost. Only played twice in 2008, it definitely sounds very good and the band was very into this version.

Brain of J. (Hartford, 6/27/2008) – A very hot show and a very fiery show from the band, the boot really doesn’t do this version justice. Pulled out mid set and it was like dropping a bomb on a show that begins quite odd to begin with.

God’s Dice (West Palm Beach, 6/11/2008) – A decent opener for a quick tour back in 2008, this version would have made the original 2008 mix I was making before I got really sick and shelved the project. This version sounds good, it comes out fast and up tempo then the show normally sounds. I felt it was the right pick.

All Night (Hartford, 6/27/2008) – I never liked the version with the singers they used in New York, the versions from the early part of the 2008 tour were not up to par. And version after 2008 seemed to just not sound right. What I liked about this version is how it got better as it went along. Ed really nailed the vocals at the end with some cool McCready Guitar work. Philly 1 was a close second.

Pilate (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – Glad to see this song show up again after several years away! I went back and fourth with this track on the versions played. I felt in the end, the Philly version was the safe pick and the best representation of it.

Thin Air (Camden 2, 6/20/2008) – Talk about a rarity! Played only once since the 2006 tour, I didn’t have much of a choice here; I wished they would play it more. It’s just such a hard song to stick somewhere in a live show.

Tremor Christ (NOLA, 5/1/2010) – No version played after 2006 has been perfect. One thing I can’t stand is how he can’t remember the first verse. I picked this version because it’s lyrically correct and sounds pretty good. Ed’s vocals due suffer at times, but I didn’t have a lot to work with here….

Speed of Sound (Hartford, 5/15/2010) – I hate what the band did to this song. It sounded so good when Ed played is solo and demo version gave me false hope. I picked this over either of the philly versions because Ed’s guitar is louder and Boom’s piano playing is barely audible. So the horrible sound of the 2010 boots actually helped this song.

I Am Mine (New York 1, 5/20/2010) – This song just wasn’t played enough over the last few years to get a better version. This isn’t a bad version, but the others were awful.

Untitled/MFC (Sydney, 11/22/2009) - I was going to get creative and include untitled with another song, but in the end it just didn’t transition right. I kept it together because for a show was Ed was deathly ill, they did a great job on this song.

Blood (Atomic Dog) (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – Another song that just cannot be carried on live, It has some great moments in 2003 and in 2005, but it’s time to put it back to bed. I felt this was the best version the band played in quite some time, so it made the mix.

Disc 2B

Inside Job (Toronto, 8/21/2009) – This was a great show, I just wish they had included the pre-set, another avocado song that was not played much after the 2009 pre-backspacer tour. It was a toss up between this and the Philly version. I went with Toronto because if had better guitar work and sounded better.

Improv (Portugal, Portugal) (Oeiras, 7/10/2010) – The hardest thing is finding places for these sort of on the spot improv’s. Luckily, this was something they had somewhat played before. And since it somehow resembled a song; I put it here as a seg way to the next part of this disc.

Big Wave (Perth, 114/14/2009) – Didn’t have a lot of choices to work with here, LA sounded good. Perth sounded better. I am glad they brought the extended ending back; nothing will beat how it was played on Madrid in 2006.

Satan’s Bed (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – Let me just state, I did not go to any of the Philly shows. But this is a bad ass version of this track. It’s always better fast and this version is fast! Ed almost lost his way beginning the third verse, but made a nice save!

Jersey Girl (Newark, 5/18/2010) – Yeah, I thought it was a Bruce song too, if anyone wants to make me a good Tom Waits comp, I am all for it!

Black Diamond (MSG 2, 6/25/2008) – Now talk about an insane rarity! This song first popped up on a setlist back in 2000 on the inside of the official bootlegs. Then was played in 2007, but in 2008 we got a great version of the track. You’ll probably never hear this again either.

Mankind (Sydney, 11/22/2009) – Ed getting sick actually led to a great version of mankind being played. Sans Ed’s back round vocals, this makes the mix because it’s better then the MSG version.

Mountain Song (Austin, 10/4/2009) – I am not sure how I feel about this being covered by the band, but at least it was done to Perry Farrell. It made a great addition to the Austin show.

Disc 3A

Walking the Cow (ACL, 10/3/2009) – How this didn’t make the show version I will never understand, but I begin Disc 3 with a sweet rendition of this track.

Of the Girl (Kansas City, 5/3/2010) – I don’t why they don’t open with this more, because whenever they do play it, it sounds better each time; great rendition here.

Why Go (London, 6/25/2010) – This was a tricky one, I spent a lot of time trying to pick a version. Ultimately when I went back over some shows; I realized this was the version to use.

Given to Fly (Oeiras, 7/10/2010) – I was about to give up on this track and use a choice from the 2008 tour when I came to the end of the road and found this versions. I think this is a highlight of the whole tour. The band and crowd form together to make this a great experience.

Hail, Hail (Bilbao, 7/9/2010) – I know I put a different version on the sampler I made a few months ago, and I did intend to use that version, but after a few listens, I felt it was not that great; it’s good, but the bad was not great on it and it felt strained. I think this version has the band in top form.

I Got Id (London, 8/18/2009) – The band this mix had a lot of greats shows in London including the 02 show. I picked the track from here as it was more uptempo and sounded rather fresh from the whole band. Matt’s drumming especially is awesome here.

Force of Nature (Cleveland, 5/09/2010) – This may be my favorite track off the new record. I was so aggravated with the versions played live, whether it was ed messing up the lyrics or a missed drumbeat here and there. I felt they finally got it right on the spring 2010 tour. Sadly it disappeared after that into the abyss of pearl jam songs probably never to be played again.

Oceans (Melbourne, 11/20/2009) – I like this version of oceans. It’s much faster of the previous versions played over the last few years, maybe being midset had something to do with it. They should play it more and throw in a random spot.

Parachutes (Philly 1, 10/27/2009) – A near perfect rendition of the avocado track, it has not been played much in this period. It’s a good track, but I am not sure it fits anywhere. Still glad they played it.

Army Reserve (Cleveland, 05/09/2010) – Played a few times since 2006, but absolutely nailed here in Cleveland. The song sounds so much better when the outro is extended with some McCready guitar.

Breath (Venice, 07/06/2010) – Not a bad version played here in Venice, and Ed got all the lyrics right. So I can’t complain.

Got Some (Boston, 05/17/2010) – This is a great version of the song. I just wish the recording was slightly better, but that doesn’t matter to most people.

Disc 3B

Of the Earth (Werchter Festival, 7/4/2010) – This was not easy to choose, it’s a new track not played or recorded before and it was played differently each time. I listened to each version many times and felt I should pick this one in the end

Red Mosquito (Adelaide, 11/17/2009) – I waited for this one. The song with Ben was becoming something epic, but it just wasn’t there until this date. Ben was loud, Mike was loud. And they just went back in fourth. This version is a beast

Jazz Odyssey (LA 2, 10/1/2009) – There really nothing to say here, as Ed says “I don’t sing on this one” I tried to put it behind a few tracks and it just didn’t work well. But I think I found a place behind Little Wing.

Little Wing (San Diego, 10/9/2009) – Only played once, it always good to get this, I just wish it was played a few more times.

Black, Red & Yellow (New York 2, 5/21/2010) – I got to be honest, I was there both nights and got handed a sign on night 1 and I never thought they were going to play it. They played it and it sounded pretty good.

Crown of Thorns (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – It was played a few times over the last few years, but sounded off each time. I felt this version sounded the best live.

The Real Me (Chicago, 8/23/2009) - I really love this version as the whole band is heard clearly like a well-oiled machine. From Jeff’s bass to Ed’s vocals, it is all spot on.

It Rains on Me/ No More (West Palm Beach, 6/11/2008) – Oh here we go! Every pearl jam fan’s worst nightmare, the hatred for this song I can understand, but it’s really not the worse song ever. The first time I listened to this version, I knew it was the one. Ed’s pleading improvisation at the end of the song made it unique. There was also some great crowd singing. I originally had it rains on me before fatal, but that REALLY didn’t sound right.

Severed Hand (Bonnaroo, 6/142008) – This song was butchered pretty much every time it was played the last 3 years. There were only two instances where respectable versions were played. This was definitely one of them. I wish the recording was better because Stone’s is on fire here.

Porch (Bonnaroo, 6/14/2008) – With one of my other mixes, I regretted not using the version of Porch I really wanted to use. Now, maybe everyone else will regret the version I used here. I felt this was a highlight of the 2008 tour. Its 10 minutes of insanity which Ed spitting pretty much the only political portion of my whole mix; which years ago would have been hard to imagine (no pun intended).

Disc 4A

Wash (Mansfield, 6/30/2008) – There were only 2 versions I could use, so I went with the 2008 version. Either one sounded good. I felt that this version fit this disc better.

World Wide Suicide (Venice, 7/6/10) – WWS has seen better days, but I felt here the band and end reached down for some 2006 energy and made it the best sounding version played in recent years.

Last Exit (Ridgefield, 9/26/009) – I actually had one of the 2009 euro versions penciled in here, but upon further review, this version was a lot stronger and Ed gives it all with his vocals.

Green Disease (Ridgefield, 9/26/2009) – All the times the song was played it was rather messy. I felt of all of them, this version was the most useful.

Habit (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – Ugh, don’t even get me started. This version would be cut if I could only break my one rule, which is to include every song. I am going to break that rule when I revisit the 2005 comp I am focusing on in the next few months; oops did I just say that?

Marker in the Sand (SLC, 9/28/2009) – Not played much in the last 3 years at all. I felt it was played the best in SLC with Ed calling out personally to God at the end like he is a crowd member or something.

Nothing As It Seems (Philly 2, 10/28/2009) – With only about 3 versions to choose from, this was not an easy choice. In the end, the Philly 09 version was just too haunting to pass up and sounded awesome.

Driven to Tears (ACL, 10/3/2009) – A rare pop up of Driven to Tears is always good. I wish there was a better recording of this track because it was absolutely nailed during the ACL taping.

Gone (Chicago, 8/24/2009) – I went acoustic on this track in 2006. I wanted to go electric this time around and I didn’t have many to choose from. Chicago seemed the tightest.

Life Wasted (LA 1, 9/30/2009) – This song has fallen from grace in recent years. But I felt this version was slightly stronger and Ed got the lyrics right. McCready also hammers the ending of the track home.

Disc 4B

Encore Break/ Guaranteed (Virginia Beach, 6/17/2008) – Whoever the special person was in this town, it lead a super rare version of this track played during a pearl jam show. It’s not the best version played and I was actually considering using a Eddie Solo show version, but I have another plan for those things. I kept to the script here.

Open All Night (Little Rock, 8/28/2010) – Ok, so I broke some rules. But I needed to more tracks and I found them on this recording and another one. I just felt the cover version of this track was WAY too good to pass up. Ed really nailed it here.

Hide Your Love Away (Rotterdam, 8/13/2009) – To think that this would virtually disappear in 2009 and 2010, I was glad to nab the version hear in Rotterdam, it’s played very well at a somewhat faster pace and works and concludes my mini Ed solo trip on the mixer.

Soldier of Love (Boston, 5/17/2010) – I am glad they played this one instead! Soldier of Live returns after many years away with correct lyrics! It almost goes bad at the beginning but recovers and ends up being a really good version.

Arms Aloft (Poland, 7/1/2010) – May I remind you of that scennnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Yeah, I am glad the tour ending when it did or I would have really got sick of this one. Not a bad track or version. Poland was great show, very underrated.

Encore Break/Angie (Berlin, 8/15/2009) – Just a little improve here and a heartfelt story of how a fan has healed after that awful storm cancelled the 2007 Venice show.

Leaving Here (London, 8/18/2009) – Only played once since 2006 and this was it. I wish they would bring it back.

Throw Your Hatred Down (San Francisco, 8/28/2009) –Played in SF for Neil and the Bridge school, great cover and a decent version turned in by the band.

Rockin in the Free World (Auckland, 11/27/2009) – Both versions played down in NZ were pretty good, I felt this one was tighter and the solo at the end was better. So I went with this one.

Disc 5A

So you wanna be a Rock N Roll Star (NOLA, 5/1/2010) – The band turns in a great version as an opener as in New Orleans. I just wish Ed had saved the talking for AFTER the song…..

Public Image (Berlin, 6/30/2010) - This was an interesting cover that really grew on me as I listened to it more. I also think it works quite well here. And they nailed it the first time they played it.

Ghost (Philly 1, 10/27/2010) – It had to go somewhere people, where would you have put it?

Faithful (Auckland, 11/27/2009) – Another song Ed spent too much time talking over. Luckily in Auckland, the band drilled out a good version here with Ed adding some good vocals to the mix.

Evacuation (Virginia Beach, 6/17/08) – I know this track is hated, but I think if the band actually played it more and sped it up it would sound awesome. I am glad they played in 2008, because 2009 was awful.

Garden (Bristow, 5/13/10) – To be honest with you, this here is a great version of the track. It has a mean ending and an elegant beginning. I just wish the recording sounded a little better.

Cropduster (Philly 3, 10/30/09) – A great version of cropduster, it’s sped up and is sounds good, it works well between these two tracks, I never liked the pace of the album version, it always felt to slow.

All Those Yesterdays ( LA 4, 10/7/09) – After all those years of sound checking it, It reappears! And it should appear more as this is one of the band’s best all time tracks. I wasn’t found of any version played, but that was bias as I kept thinking of the 2003 version which is fantastic. I went back and realized this version was the better of the 3 played.

Goin’ back to Indiana (Noblesville, 5/7/10) – This was a odd little improve of the song that I had a hard time placing, so I kept it as a stand alone track as it was at the show. It just didn’t work with anything else.

Last Kiss (Vancouver, 9/25/09) – The “real” start to the tour as coined by the band. As this song has disappeared and I am sure most fans are happy because it is quite hated. This is a really good version of the track, probably the best version they played in a while.

Education (Columbia, 6/16/08) – Ok, I had this really awful Idea at one time which I thought was good. I was gonna make the “tion” trilogy. With Education, Evacuation and Do the Evolution, needless to say; it sounded awful. This is a rarely played B-side, glad it made an appearance in 2008.

Leatherman (Newark, 5/18/10) – For a song that had not been played in forever, it came out real well. The only problem was the god awful fade with 30 seconds left in the song at the end of it. I felt it was good conclusion to Disc 5A.

Disc 5B

Bee Girl (Boston, 5/17/2010) – What a beautiful heartfelt version of the track with just Ed and Jeff, I don’t think it has ever been played better and the appropriate beginning to Disc 5B

Just Breathe (Boston 5/17/2010) – I also found this track in Boston, the back and fourth between Ed and the crowd is really great and the track sound so good hear. The sounds of the 2010 bootlegs actually added a positive hear. I also felt no need to move as it felt right after Bee Girl.

Low Light (Philly 4, 10/31/2010) – Correct lyrics, crisp vocals and the band is on fire, this also maybe the finest version they have ever played live.

Bugs (Philly 4, 10/31/2010) – This is where things get wacky with the first ever performance of Bugs, I give Ed a lot of credit for attempting it and then going through with it. This was another track which was impossible to place, that became the theme for Disc 5 which became a good disc after all.

Lukin (LA 2, 10/1/2009) – Another version of lukin, acoustic this time with Ed challenging the string players to just go crazy. They did this a few times and this was first and had to string players coming up with whatever they could. Ridleybradout made this edit perfect as I had trouble with it.

U (Camden 1, 6/19/2008) – Not played in 2009 or 2010 and played very few times since 2005, this maybe the best version played since 2005. But let’s not get into 2005, I have to save that version for something else…..

Whip It (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) - I had NO idea where to add this track, it must have been in 6 different places before I put it here. What can I say? They played a devo song. Not something u hear everday.

If You Want Blood/ Blood (Brisbane, 11/25/2009) – Ultimately blood ended up on here twice because I could not do anything remotely with the AC/DC cover that sounded good. It literally is on track as the cover become blood. So I was forced to keep it as it was.

Sonic Reducer (Bristow, 5/13/2010) – It sounded better then the version played in Europe and if the recording was better, it probably wasn’t all that bad.

Leash (Camden 1, 6/19/2008) – Leash was a mess in 2009 & 2010. I had to dig deep for this one as I had forgot about it, But after listening back to it, I felt this was the best bet.

All Along the Watchtower (Bonnaroo, 6/14/2008) – It was either this version or the MSG 2 version from 2008. I went back and fourth and decided to take this one as it ended that epic Bonnaroo show and was a real rockin version in my opinion.

Disc 6A

Release (Oeiras, 7/10/2010) – I was waiting for a version like this one to come along. Release is suppose to bring chills down your spine, it is suppose to life you up and get you ready for a journey. The crowd here is insane and it really makes the performance even better.

Small Town (Rotterdam, 8/13/2009) – Believe it or not, it is not easy to pick a version of this song. It is played so much that it’s hard to say your gonna take any old version. What I liked here was that it feels more heartfelt, the crowd singing at the end and the band and Ed patiently bringing everyone along.

Supersonic (NOLA, 5/1/2010) – The action picks up here with a whipping version of Supersonic. They actually backed away from this song as the tour ended. I guess they figured it was a mistake because it doesn’t seem too hard to play. Either way, I felt this or Philly’s version was the way to go. This version was a little amped up.

State of Love and Trust (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – I loved the aggressiveness of this version. It comes out hot and leaves you floored, Ed’s vocals sound good and the whole band sounds great.

Brain Damage (London, 6/25/10)/Brother (8/15/2009, Berlin) – I was surprised Ed pulled out his little pink floyd intro at a pearl jam show, but the second it happened, I was going to put it before sometimes. But I decided to experiment here and it worked. This version of Brother I feel is the best played live version since it came back, it has been played much but the seemed to play it well in the Aug. 2009 tour. McCready completes owns this version.

Unemployable – (Philly 1, 10/27/09) –Man, this song is as relevant as ever. I actually thought this one would disappear soon after 2006. I am happy it didn’t; I think it sounds great still and here is really picks up as it goes.

Hold On (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – They called this an attempt? They completely nailed it! Talk about a first time miracle! Hold on makes it first appearance ever.

Alone (LA 4, 10/7/09) – Another rarity that is pretty much nailed; which I am glad they did, because it’s such a great song live and the other versions played live recently were not that great.

Immortality (Cleveland, 5/9/2010) - There is no better song to play after alone and before the song that brings you to the end of the main set like this one. And the version played in Cleveland sounded really good.

Go (Cleveland, 5/9/10) - I now know this, Go needs to be played more as a mid set song instead of an encore closer. It was brutally bad when played to end a set. But here this version brings back what has been missing for quite some time.

Disc 6B

The Needle and the Damage Done (Melbourne, 11/20/2009) – This song begins the darker portion of Disc 6 and the mix. The part about pain and ultimate redemption; I found this version to be haunting and almost perfect in a sense to begin this part of the mix.

Fatal (Buffalo, 5/10/10) - I am rather glad that they began to restart and get it down on tape sounding good. I was so mad in 2006 when the messed this track up. It such a good song, it needs to be played more live.

Black (London, 6/25/2010) – Black is a song I always considered last after everything else is done. I had a hard time finding one. Then this show came along and it wasn’t even a hard decision. No acoustic guitar on this track here. This is the most rocking and intense version of black in years. And the crowd feeds into it so well.

Comeback (Washington D.C, 6/22/2008) – The forgotten version of comeback, As emotional as the 6/30/10 version is, it is completely overcome by emotion, almost to the point where is it rather painful to listen, So rather then disrespect a moment like that. I added what I believe is a beautiful version of the track with an extended guitar outro.

Parting Ways (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – Could be the single greatest version of this song every played live. It rivals the acoustic Boston 03 version.

Wasted Reprise (Toronto, 8/21/2009) - It’s rare nowadays that you get a performance like this for this little intro. Ed usually introduces Boom or talks about feelings and the town he is in and sometimes it works. But I wanted a version uninterrupted, something pure. Toronto felt that way to me.

Love, Reign O’er Me – (Chicago, 8/232009) – Now, I am not gonna tell you this is the best version I have ever heard. But it’s probably one of the most emotional I have ever heard. The band sounds good, though boom’s organ and ed’s vocals could be louder. The vocal hell Ed goes through to sing this song is unmatched and he gives his all.

Unthought Known (Belfast, 6/23/2010) – I didn’t want to use Berlin, and I went through many versions. I wanted to use this late in a disc as it’s such a pick up song. I also wanted a version that shows how the song grew as they played it on tour. I found a very underrated version here in Ireland.

Hunger Strike (LA 3, 10/06/2009) – Eh, it’s only Chris Cornell singing Hunger Strike. I was hoping they would do a song off his recent solo record with Timbaland on stage too! I was sadly disappointed….

Alive (Austin, 10/04/2009) – As a song that now gets played every show; it never seems to lose it power. I just wish they would mix it up and put it somewhere else. It also makes it hard to find the right version. I loved the power of the song in Austin, Ed’s vocals, mike’s guitar and the band just been on.

Disc 7A

Sometimes (St. Louis, 5/4/2010) – I went back and fourth between this version and the 8/11 London version, then I even got stuck on Belfast, but ultimately, this version was perfect, there is a little feedback at the beginning but Ed’ vocals are spot on and his scream at the end brings chills, a perfect opener after they couldn’t get it right in 2006.

Interstellar Overdrive/ Corduroy (London, 8/11/2009) – I stressed on this mix picking versions of songs not too sped up like I had done so much in 2006. Sometimes I couldn’t help it and went with what sounded the best. This version of Corduroy is perfect, it’s a slow burn with a killer ending; let’s not forget the tiny club crowd that made it sound like they were in a room of 20,000 people instead of 2,000.

Breakerfall (LA, 10/6/2009) – This was a very tough choice, Perth was a very close second, but in the end, I loved Ed’s voice better on this version. I also loved the sound quality, The LA shows were some of the best sounding boots since 2006.

In Hiding (Cleveland, 5/9/2010) – This was a last minute audible. I listened to it and realized that is was a strong version after I had put another version on my sampler (sorry Aussies). But I felt this version was tighter and Ed’s Voice was in high form. I still don’t like how they cut the ending nowadays.

Amongst The Waves (Perth, 11/14/2009) – I struggled with this pick because I was not in love with the song at first. But as they played it more and more, it slowly started to become a better song live. I wanted a version where the guitars were tight and Ed’s voice was crisp. Perth was an excellent opening show. I felt this version really brings out the song live.

Dissident (Philly 1, 10/27/2009) – I for years did this song no justice; the band has not played this song this well in 15 years. I hated the version I used in 2006, 2003 and 2000. I hope fans of the song are happy with this version. Because it’s damn tight.

Daughter (SLC, 9/28/2009) – There were no really standout versions of this song during the last 3 tours, No big tags, so this time I decided to go with a version that was slower, had a fresh twist and a somewhat decent tag,. Bring a version along that actually fleshed out the song itself I feel the SLC version stone added a nice electric acoustic guitar sound and the tag did this and also does well introducing the next song on the Mixer.

W.M.A (Camden 1, 6/20/2008) – Talk about a rarity! Now they never revisited it after the 2008 tour which was a shame. I always felt they could a got it right if they played for a few more years, but after 2008 it went back on the shelf. The version with the singers was never an option; I loved the Camden version because I felt it was the best representation of how they played the song in 2008.

Down (Toronto, 8/21/2009) – I was set on using the Calgary version, but then I was going to use the Philly version with Mike Ness to spice it up, But in the end, Toronto’s version was just to good to let go to waste. Considering the mess it became in 2010 with Ed getting the vocals wrong. This is a fine representation of this track with should have been on Riot Act.

Present Tense (Austin, 10/4/2009) – This version features great drum work from Matt and also Ed singing most of the song instead of asking for crowd help. The jam at the end is also killer. Austin was a great show and this is a great representation from that show.

Encore Break/ Smile (Manchester, 8/17/2009) – I loved the encore banter regarding what Mike used to do for a fan who made to a 69th show and the fact that Smile was played at the right pace, not too fast or two slow and it sounds awesome. For a song they don’t play much, they nailed it here

Out of My Mind (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – Hey, it’s not even a song and they played it. If you would have told me that this would be on my next mix back in 2008, I would have told you you’re crazy.

Glorified G (Portugal, 7/10/2010) – While this song was played a few times over the last three years, it was not played well at all. If there is one song they should retire, this is it! The last time it was played awesome was probably 2005 or 2003. There was only one other version I considered, but as they always do, they finish tours strong. This was the best version played over the last 3 tours and it made the mix.

Insignificance (Austin, 10/4/2009) – You guys notice Ed rarely forgets the lyrics to this song? It’s odd that he rarely does considering how complex they are and how he can’t remember lyrics to newer or staple songs. This song has aged very well and become a fantastic live. This is great version from Austin where the band was on fire.

Rearview mirror (Wrechter, 7/4/2010) – I searched long and far for a RVM that I felt was good for this mix. I held out long and almost considered either Boston or Poland. But in the end, this version from the Wrechter Festival won out because of its long intense jam with Ed’s middle improv. I also felt they drove the song home at the end, something that had been missing from other versions.

Encore Break 1/ Throw Your Arms Around Me (Brisbane, 11/25/2009) – I know that this doesn’t sound much different then the other four times they played it in Australia in 2009, but for some reason, this one sounded the best to me. Great cover done with Liam Finn.

Not Given Lightly (Auckland, 11/27/2009) – I have to be honest, I love this cover. I hope Ed pulls it out for his upcoming solo tour. It was only played once and it’s sad the mic’s seemed off for the Liam and Neil Finn. Regardless I wanted it to be in a good spot in this mix and I think I found here on the Finn wing of the mix.

Better Be Home Soon (Christchurch, 11/29/2009) – Now my fellow Aussies, I know this song! This cover came out a little better, I guess if they hard more time to rehearse; it would have sounded even better, but it continues the Finn wing of the mixer. Great choice!

I Got You (Christchurch, 11/29/2009) – This concludes the Finn wing of the mix with a cover of I Got You, it is ok, but I wish they would have played it one or two more times. I think it would have sounded a lot better.

Indifference (Christchurch 11/29/09) – This one took a while to pick. In the past I never wanted to use a version with Ben Harper. I always felt he sounded like he was over singing on the track and there were times where he and Ed sounded off, or drunk. But I finally found a version that I felt had the two of them in complete harmony. This sound make up for the shit storm I got for not using the 2003 MSG version.

I Believe In Miracles (LA II, 10/1/2009) – I originally had the version from SLC lined up, but after further review, I felt that versions was a good more safe pick. I wanted a more punkish feel and I felt that the LA II version was faster and felt more like it deserved.

Ain’t Talkin Bout Love (Hartford, 5/15/2010) – Definitely one of the oddest covers I ever expected the band to play. It really doesn’t sound bad, but it’s just not the band’s taste. Ed really puts his vocals behind the song.

Baba O’Riley (Philly 3, 10/30/2009) – A perfect end to what I thought was the best of the Philly shows. Baba disappeared in the last couple of years, there weren’t many to work with, but I used this one as it was the best of the bunch.

Disc 8

Long Road (Manchester, 8/17/2009) – I knew from first time I listened to this version that it was the version for the mix. Ed’s vocals sound downright amazing and the ending will give any fan of this song chills. I dedicate this version to my grandmother who sadly passed away last April. I miss you and love you.

Once (Christchurch, 11/29/2009) – While this song was played a few times throughout 08-10, I never felt it sounded great when played towards the end of a show, it seems to come out more intense when played with in the first 10 songs. I loved the Christchurch version and used it.

Johnny Guitar (Ridgefield, 9/26/2009) – First let me say I am a huge fan of this song. I loved it from the first moment I heard. I say just replace the album version with this one, it’s that good. Ed is in full growl and the band is on fire. I grabbed this one before it got sloppier and Ed couldn’t remember the second verse. Close second, Philly II version.

Grievance (Vancouver, 9/25/2009) – The band needs to place this song more. It just such an amazing track that has gotten better with time, ED can still hit the notes and the band can still rock it. I don’t know why it is not played more, but I chose this version as both the vocals and the instruments are just in such high force, it feels like there ready to punch you in the face.

No Way (Seattle 2, 9/22/2009) – I was never convinced that I wasn’t going to use this version. It sounds very careful and rehearsed and Ed really gets it going when he screams the end of the first verse.

Sad (Vancouver, 9/25/2009) – It wasn’t played much after 2006, So I had few versions to work with and it disappeared after Vancouver 2009. If it never gets played again, it was a great send off. One of the best version since Ed took over the opening and the whole band plays it quite well.

Light Years (Berlin, 8/15/2009) – This song has never been perfect live. It actually is a total different interpretation each time it’s played live. Whether too fast or too slow, I have always seen this song as one built of emotion of the band. This one started as like it was heading for the dumping pile but got much stronger as it went on and turned out to be a very beautiful version. I picked this over Vancouver.

In My Tree (Brisbane, 11/25/09) - In 2009 the band returned to the "old" in my tree, while the new version had grown on me and turned my attention back to the real version. I felt the best way it sounded was in front of this large crowd in Brisbane, the ending is also extended and kicks ass.

Push me, Pull me (Berlin, 6/30/10) - While not a actual interpretation of the studio version, the band her turned it into a 2 1/2 minute punk song. To some it was hated, to me; it never sounded better.

Save You (Vancouver, 9/25/09) - It's hard to believe that back in 2003 this was played every show. In these days, it's a rare, and even more rare to be played this well. Probably one of the best "later versions of this song you ever hear!

Society (Little Rock, AK 8/28/10) - While not part of the pearl jam tour, i felt if the chance presented itself to put any of Eddie's into the wild material on the mixer. I would take that chance, played with Johnny Depp on guitar, it stood out to me as a very heart felt version of this track.

The End (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – This was probably one of the most debated tracks in my brain for weeks, months, years? I had three versions on the cutting board for months. I went back and visited them a lot and listened more then a normal human should listen to a pearl jam song. I remember one night listening to it again in the back round when an episode of LOST’s final season came on the TV. It happened to be one where Desmond was down in well (ironically) regardless he give this impassioned speech to sayid about life and what not, I then revisited this track after the finale also called The End. And in the “end” over New Zealand’s version, which was the clear winner for a while. I chose this versions, it’s beautiful and sad at the same time.

Lukin II ( New York 2, 5/21/10) - Taken from the band's mighty US tour closer in 2010. Ed bought out a string act and literally took my idea for the song that I thought of back in 1996 and turned it into a fucking masterpiece. Slowed it down and made a it a piece I wish he would play more in this mould.

Do The Evolution (St. Louis, 5/4/10) - It's hard to pick this track as it is played alot! I wanted a solid version with kicks ass guitars and ed shredding his voice. I found it in St. Louis.

Who You Are (Mansfield, 6/30/2008) – No one was happier to hear this in 2008 then I was. I still considered it a work in process when they brought it back and it took them all of the mini 2008 tour to get it to sound right. I choose a version without the gospel singers because they just weren’t needed. I just wonder what could have been if they kept playing it in 2009 & 2010.

(Ben) Rats (London, 8/18/09) - Everyone knows that one of Ed's love of Michael Jackson's music. It was a tiny tribute but it meshed beautifully using the beginning of Ben and adding it to Rats, Rats over the years has been hit or miss since they brought it back. But on this day, it sounded just right.

Deep (Melbourne, 11/20/09) - This track has been played so few times since 2003 that I was only hoping for a version that made it sound respectable. In this version, the band pushes through while Ed shreds his vocals to make this sound downright vile and harsh in a good way.

Nothing Man (Hartford, 5/15/2010) – I don’t think you can get a much more beautiful version of the track then this one, with a beautiful intro by end telling a story of relationships which eventually leads to this full sounding version with some great singing by the crowd. I was going to use MSG’s version because I was there. But I couldn’t resist Hartford.

I'm Open (New York 2, 5/21/10) - Played mostly as a tribute to Howard Zinn at this show, I felt it worked beautifully before betterman.

Better Man (Save it for Later) (New York 2, 5/21/10) - This is the best representation of the way the band plays the song today, the crowd sang the opening verse and cheered so loud it brought Ed to tears. The band took if from there and it had the most perfect call and response at the end, not going to long and just giving enough to make this version perfect.

Kick Out The Jams ( New York 2, 5/21/10) - I really had my mind set on using the LA version. But when Ed announced is it time, the band just took this version to another level with ed declaring the Jams had been kicked out by smashing his mic stand to the ground at the very end.

Yellow Ledbetter ( London, 8/18/09) - When I wanted to end this with this track, I didn't want to use a version which had some song or anthem tagged, I wanted a version of the song that stood on it's own without those things. I felt that was represented here and was the perfect ending.

Sweet! Looking forward to this. I loved your 2003 and 2006 mixes. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a 2000 mix as well.

Excellent. Looking forward to this. Do you offer up your choices as you go along and do you like input from others? I've been grabbing your compilations since the 2000 ones but have never seen the process of choosing the tracks

So finished Shepard's bush, pretty solid show for a tour opener, yeah there is calgary( I have not forgot any picks from calgary you calgarians). The one thing I notice is that Matt's drumming is solid. Also that ed did not spend alot of time on a treadmill over the summer. Regardless, it is still the beginning....

Solid versions of the opener sometimes and a great interstellar with a normal speed corduroy. Brother is equally tight, ed forgets the 2nd verse of SOLAT and I wish they would pull out Soldier of Love more.....that is all for now. On to the netherlands!

To be fair, it was an oven in there and the band were almost in the crowd. Saw someone we knew pulled out from the front (from our balcony seats) and another girl was lifted out and was out cold. Matt was solid at both London dates and the whole tour from what people have been saying

IO>Corduroy was great. I was sat there thinking "Wow, I'm enjoying corduroy", a great moment, as I love the studio version. Brother was tight, like travelling back in time. I never expected to hear that one. However, I don't care for Soldier of Love.

P.S. how does the official boot compare to the audience recording?

Ahoy Time! 8)

Some little fact about the place...

Ahoy Rotterdam (often called merely Ahoy) is an indoor sporting arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The capacity of the arena is 10,000.
The basis of the present Ahoy was laid in 1950. After the devastation caused by the Second World War, the city of Rotterdam had worked on reconstruction and Rotterdam port was virtually complete. To mark the occasion, the Rotterdam Ahoy! exhibition was held in a purpose-built hall on the site where the medical faculty of the Erasmus University now stands.
The exhibition hall was called the Ahoy'-Hal. The apostrophe is a remnant of the original exclamation mark. The hall was used for a series of national and international events, such as the exhibition of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. During the North Sea flood of 1953 the hall also proved its worth as a reception centre for victims.
Ahoy Rotterdam as we now know it was built in 1970. The complex’s striking design won various national and international awards for its special steel structures. The first event to be held there was the Femina family exhibition. Since then, Ahoy has been expanded on a number of occasions, and was renovated and refurbished in 1998 to create today’s multifunctional venue.

I am about 2/3 through this show, the band does sound great and the crowd was truly into this show. I have to be honest, i never loved opening with Elderly Woman, but for this show it works SO well, I have 3 or 4 picks from this show I can considering. I will give more of a review when I am done.

I have finished Rotterdam! Over all decent show for the 3rd show of a tour, the band let it all hang out, I found some great tracks for the mix. Especially and encore closer! well, a song I will make one, Does band really fucking nail half full here. I think so! I suggest listening to A common man's mix, it is pretty good.

I have finished berlin, great crowd, great show. My harder choice is gonna be which brother wins out in the end, here or rotterdam? I won't give much more away now. What would be the fun with that? I have made some interesting discoveries in the first 4 shows, Not only is Matt pounding the shit outta the drums, Is it me or is Mike sounding real metal this tour? It is just that his guitar seems alot punchier than past tours. I am not experiencing the problem of not hearing mike as many other have, but then again, I raised the levels :luv: . It's manchester time!

This was very apparent at the o2. I really noticed it at the end of Black, no laid back version there. It was great to have a front row side view of Matt and Mike.

1 vote for Rotterdam. I thought Berlin's version was blah.

Hello all, and happy turkey day. Sorry no update in about a week, but the holidays are crazy. i finished manchester and the o2 show, I must say that the 02 show sounded sweet and besides for a lyrical flubb in corduroy, this show is pretty top notch. I am currently on toronto. No time for pictures now, but that crowd is amazing so far. And I believe I have already found a version of the fixer for the mixer I will use. Nice weekend to all.

Another vote for Rotterdam's Brother.

Is the mix going to include the Philly and Oz/NZ shows too?

If they do a full-scale US tour in 2010 (as has been heavily rumoured), are you going to do a separate mix?

Man, I'm full of questions today (aren't I?)

The mix will include both Oz and philly shows, I don't really believe there will be a full scale 2010 tour untill i see it. There are soundgarden rumors and I think the band is really not gonna do much for the first 8-10 months of the year. keep the questions coming spenno, gonna need you help too!
