This looks great and I really appreciate all the effort you put into this. I can't wait to hear it.

[My only worry with including everything they've done in the past three years is, not everything they've done is good!]

bonnaroo porch- yesssssssssssss.

hartford's porch seems to get the most love from the 08 tour, and that's fine. but with the impassioned speech and extended jam (the setlist said "porch (short)", no doubt since they were supposed to be on a schedule), i think bonnaroo's porch stands out as unique amongst the others of this particular era. glad to see it included.

If your favorite version of Porch is from the 08 tour you're doing it wrong.

I love that version, so sue me. It's probably more about the speech during the jam than anything, but I love that version. The first time I heard it it gave me goosebumps.

Disc 2 notes added..

Hard to Imagine (Washington, D.C. 6/22/2008) – “Why are they opening with Hard to Imagine every show, can they stop it already?” Yeah I’ll never for get this quote from a to remain unnamed board member. You want to know how many times it has been played after 2008. Twice! I chose this version as it was just too beautiful to pass up; the song really hit its stride in D.C.

Can’t Keep (Columbia, 6/16/2008) – A much underrated show from the 2008 tour and a very rare appearance from Can’t Keep, Which has been more of a Ghost then the song Ghost. Only played twice in 2008, it definitely sounds very good and the band was very into this version.

Brain of J. (Hartford, 6/27/2008) – A very hot show and a very fiery show from the band, the boot really doesn’t do this version justice. Pulled out mid set and it was like dropping a bomb on a show that begins quite odd to begin with.

God’s Dice (West Palm Beach, 6/11/2008) – A decent opener for a quick tour back in 2008, this version would have made the original 2008 mix I was making before I got really sick and shelved the project. This version sounds good, it comes out fast and up tempo then the show normally sounds. I felt it was the right pick.

All Night (Hartford, 6/27/2008) – I never liked the version with the singers they used in New York, the versions from the early part of the 2008 tour were not up to par. And version after 2008 seemed to just not sound right. What I liked about this version is how it got better as it went along. Ed really nailed the vocals at the end with some cool McCready Guitar work. Philly 1 was a close second.

Pilate (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – Glad to see this song show up again after several years away! I went back and fourth with this track on the versions played. I felt in the end, the Philly version was the safe pick and the best representation of it.

Thin Air (Camden 2, 6/20/2008) – Talk about a rarity! Played only once since the 2006 tour, I didn’t have much of a choice here; I wished they would play it more. It’s just such a hard song to stick somewhere in a live show.

Tremor Christ (NOLA, 5/1/2010) – No version played after 2006 has been perfect. One thing I can’t stand is how he can’t remember the first verse. I picked this version because it’s lyrically correct and sounds pretty good. Ed’s vocals due suffer at times, but I didn’t have a lot to work with here….

Speed of Sound (Hartford, 5/15/2010) – I hate what the band did to this song. It sounded so good when Ed played is solo and demo version gave me false hope. I picked this over either of the philly versions because Ed’s guitar is louder and Boom’s piano playing is barely audible. So the horrible sound of the 2010 boots actually helped this song.

I Am Mine (New York 1, 5/20/2010) – This song just wasn’t played enough over the last few years to get a better version. This isn’t a bad version, but the others were awful.

Untitled/MFC (Sydney, 11/22/2009) - I was going to get creative and include untitled with another song, but in the end it just didn’t transition right. I kept it together because for a show was Ed was deathly ill, they did a great job on this song.

Blood (Atomic Dog) (LA 4, 10/7/2009) – Another song that just cannot be carried on live, It has some great moments in 2003 and in 2005, but it’s time to put it back to bed. I felt this was the best version the band played in quite some time, so it made the mix.

Inside Job (Toronto, 8/21/2009) – This was a great show, I just wish they had included the pre-set, another avocado song that was not played much after the 2009 pre-backspacer tour. It was a toss up between this and the Philly version. I went with Toronto because if had better guitar work and sounded better.

Improv (Portugal, Portugal) (Oeiras, 7/10/2010) – The hardest thing is finding places for these sort of on the spot improv’s. Luckily, this was something they had somewhat played before. And since it somehow resembled a song; I put it here as a seg way to the next part of this disc.

Big Wave (Perth, 114/14/2009) – Didn’t have a lot of choices to work with here, LA sounded good. Perth sounded better. I am glad they brought the extended ending back; nothing will beat how it was played on Madrid in 2006.

Satan’s Bed (Philly 4, 10/31/2009) – Let me just state, I did not go to any of the Philly shows. But this is a bad ass version of this track. It’s always better fast and this version is fast! Ed almost lost his way beginning the third verse, but made a nice save!

Jersey Girl (Newark, 5/18/2010) – Yeah, I thought it was a Bruce song too, if anyone wants to make me a good Tom Waits comp, I am all for it!

Black Diamond (MSG 2, 6/25/2008) – Now talk about an insane rarity! This song first popped up on a setlist back in 2000 on the inside of the official bootlegs. Then was played in 2007, but in 2008 we got a great version of the track. You’ll probably never hear this again either.

Mankind (Sydney, 11/22/2009) – Ed getting sick actually led to a great version of mankind being played. Sans Ed’s back round vocals, this makes the mix because it’s better then the MSG version.

Mountain Song (Austin, 10/4/2009) – I am not sure how I feel about this being covered by the band, but at least it was done to Perry Farrell. It made a great addition to the Austin show.
