When I first read on TSIS that PJ covered this tune, I seriously thought they would butcher it. It just didn't seem like the style of song they could pull off. Then when I heard it...I was shocked. They fucking nailed it. One of my favorite PJ covers of the past 5 years.

Are you referring to, "Know Your Rights" by the Clash? If so, you're alright in my book.

love this cover. Saw them play it when I was at Alpine Valley in 2003. Kid next me turned to me and said "what song is this?" I replied with the correct answer. Kid said, "Who are the Clash?" Before I could lecture/belt him, he offered me a drag from some of his weed. I liked that kid after that.

me too. I like their version more than the original. Uniondale is my favorite too.

I, too, was stunned by how well they pulled off. When I read here that they covered it, I had to get a Clash CD to make sure it was the song I was thinking it was. Then when I heard the PJ version on the bootleg, I was glad to see that their version was at least as good, if not better, than the original.

When I made my comp of the 2003 tour's new songs, I used the Missoula version, not Uniondale. Uniondale had more energy, but Missoula was much cleaner, Ed was obviously haveing more fun, and the crowd was totally with it.

I'm the opposite. I like almost all pearl jam covers more than the original. In fact I'm not sure if I can think of one where I like the original more.

i'll just run down the few off the top of my head:
RITFW - neil does it better. much rawer.
harvest moon - this isn't even close.
baba o'riley - ditto.
know your rights - i've actually never heard the orig. so i can't say.
hide your love away - i like pearl jam's better.
sonic reducer - well this song just sucks either way.
