It'd be the second time I walked out of a Pj gig ever if they did. It'd be a new record for shortest attendance Pj gig attendance time though. That'd be something.
Chances are it'll be a rocker opener in Dublin. Hate that. Oceans/Release or gtfo.

I like Big Wave a helluva lot, but yeah, that would be shitty opener.
I've seen Release now and don't care to ever see it again as long as Boom's playing on it.
It's weird: 2003 had lots of Boom, they mercifully reduced his presence in 2006 to a very agreeable level but he's been back in full-force in 2008/2009, more than ever before.
Now he plays honky-tonk plinky-plonk all over Rats, Release, etc. It's horrid.
I think Boom should only play organ, I can't think of a single song in which he plays piano that it's in any way tolerable. The organ stuff in LBC, Save You, etc. is fine - that's great, organ is rock n' roll. Piano? Nah.
Either that, or just get someone in who actually knows how to play keys with a rock band. That fellow from My Morning Jacket seems to do a bang-up job.

I bet they open with Big Wave instead.

Spenno-I'm with ya on Boom. Listen to the London O2 show from last year..he's all over the place on that and fuckin ruins the recording everytime he appears on it.
There should be a 2 bootleg option with 10c downloads..buy the boot with Boom or without him. The sales from that would give em a clue I reckon

I like the Crazy Mary with Boom alot more than the old school one, I dont see why people are so down on it now.
Really?
I just can't understand that at all...
To be honest, I really think Boom's run his course with the band. Time to let him sail back to whichever beach Ed picked him up on. Do you think the other members of the band ever think that but aren't quite sure how to tell him? I'm sure he's making a lot more cash now than he ever has before, it'd be tough to tell him it's over.
Stone definitely needs to go back to using electric on Black and Wash too - it sounded great in 2006, I really thought he'd stick with it.

Wow, I rarely agree 100% with a spenno post. But here's one.

I like the organ solo, and I like the dueling solo with McCready. I have always liked it better, I will say that it was alot better in 03 than it is now. To be honest, I really dont mind most of what Boom does, there are a few songs here and there where I dont like what he contributes, but he dosent bother me like most others.

Have they ever opened with "Hail Hail"?
I got the LO2L version on today's commute, and thought to myself this would be a pretty cool show opener. The band comes out, Matt hits the high hat 4x, then the band rips into it.
Definitely a few times in '98--maybe Atlanta? It works.
For six shows, I've been lucky to get a diverse showing of some of the biggies:
Of the Girl (St. Louis 2000) Do the Evolution (Champaign 2003) Release (Chicago 2003) Love Boat Captain (St. Louis 2004) Long Road (Chicago 2009) Sometimes (St. Louis 2010)
"Oceans" is far and away the one I want to see most, but I'd take a "Can't Keep" or a "Wash" without any complaints.
As slow warm-up type openers go, I always thought coming out and kicking straight into "Other Side" on a four count would be cool.
