I remember that show being totally killed by the setlist-judgers for its short length. I have always defended it as a gem in the midst of the best run of the 03 tour (Philly, Albany, Uniondale, Buffalo, State College).

Absolutely it's a gem. And I'm sure I've told you all the story about how Ed mentions me and my friends before Daughter.

I was sitting to the side of the stage on Stone's side, just a few rows back. Could see everything perfectly. We had 6 people in my group and were passing my bowl down so it was pretty obvious what we were doing. Just before Daughter Ed, who wasn't more than 30 feet or so from us turns to his left, looks at us and points, and says "good to know some people in the crowd are getting high, no worries" or something to the effect. While he was saying it I literally had the pipe to my lips. It was pretty cool knowing he was referring to me specifically.

That's what I don't like about your seating system. I know it has its advantages & reasons why it's done. But I still don't like it. At every show I've been to, I've been exactly where I wanted to be, except in Canada with the seating thing. I chose the side, I chose how much up front I go, I chose how long I stay at a place, if there's big guy blocking my view, I could choose to go elsewhere. ... I don't depend on how long I've been paying a fucking fan club or how luck serves me in some sort of lottery who gets to be closest to the stage.

good story.

i saw ben harper at UConn (back in '00 maybe?) and it was almost the same thing.

he was like, it smells good in here, and we were pretty obviously smoking.
