why did he stop playing speed of sound after chicago? was it bad? i love the demo of that song and hate the full band version. it was the one song that kept the minneapolis setlist from being perfect for me.

I thought it was really good in Boston, and I dont even like that song. His solo version actually turned me around on it.

Yup. I remember hearing it when PJ played it in Hartford last year. Called my friend the next day and said that should only be at a solo show. It was good solo this go around.

really great show. i didn't know what to expect, really, bc i've never listened to live versions or seen Water On The Road. One thing that really stood out to me was Ed's voice. It's really strong these days, especially after a 30-date tour. But I guess he can keep it going when he's not singing things like Blood. His voice just filled the entire Hall.

the version of Sleepless Nights with Ed and Glen on the front edge of the stage with no mics or amps was great. You could hear a pin drop.

Saw Ed twice in 08 and twice on this tour. All amazing performances, but this last show was perhaps the most polished and enjoyable performance I have ever witnessed. Just an incredible show. Set list was fantastic. Ed was in great spirits, and played either long versions or tags or just kept songs going. 33 (well, 32 minus "fakah") songs. Even the stories were a lot of fun. This is one that desperately needs to be produced -both audio and video. After 08 I said I'd go out of my way to see Ed tour solo again, and having seen these two shows, next time I'm getting in a van, and following him around!

best review of the tour..well worth reading..this bit made me laugh..

"This concert review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Glen Hansard further. Eddie must have balls the size of garbage cans to let that guy open for him. That gypsy can steal your woman and walk off with your crowd by the bridge of the second song. Hansard could do no wrong. In front of that crowd - with that voice, that accent, and that kind of (sometimes) violent approach to acoustic guitar - he was fishing with dynamite. I went out and bought the Once soundtrack – as just a place to start. Hats off."

aw shucks
this will always be special to me have a listen

"One special audio bit we added was a wonderful story Eddie told in Seattle about meeting a young fan in Ireland in 1996. Have a listen for a good cheer up."
