So I stopped by the Schnitzer on my way home from work, hoping to pick up my 10c tix. No dice, not handing them out til 4:30. However, the front door of the theater was standing wide open, so I walked in to the empty lobby. House doors were open, I peek my head in, and what do you know? There sits Ed on stage, mandolin in hand, soundchecking 'Rise'. Amazing to get to hear that in the empty theater. Just me, Ed and the sound guy. Great preview for tonight!

Fantastic show. Loved that he closed the first set with letting Arc just keep playing. B, R, G was a highlight, as were the PJ songs. Immortality! Felt like he really did little "sets": a set of uke tunes, a set of Into the Wild, a set of PJ, and a set of duets. Crowd was the best I've been a part of - very little jerks yelling. Only downer were the no-picture-taking stormtroopers who were constantly up and down the aisle (I was sitting on the aisle, so very distracting). Great to hear ITW again - felt like '08! Ed's playing continues to improve. Very storytelly in the beginning, then got down to business. Felt to me like it took a little while to gain traction, then really took off. Glad everyone stood for the second encore on. Sorry to see it end. Only songs I really wanted to hear that I didn't: Light Today and LBC (still can't believe he's done LBC solo... soooo want to hear that) And Glen was pretty impressive beforehand. What a great evening.
Questions I had:
Watched as a parent drug their 4 year old daughter out after Ed's prolonged story about that guy who got his junk chopped off and diced in the disposal... why bring a 4 year old to a concert? Watched the 1 year old standing in the aisle with headphones on... who brings a 1 year old to a concert? (Are these parents crazy... or awesome? Can't decide) Go Speed Racer poster... for Portland? Why didn't I buy one of those license plate shirts when I had the chance?

Heartbreaking. I held out with friends until about 1 am, hanging by the busses to wait to chat with Eddie. I headed home, only to later find out that Ed came out of the building about 5 minutes after I bailed.
