I wasn't a huge Pearl Jam fan until after the Binaural tour concluded. I'm wondering...with Live on Two Legs as the only officially released live album up until that point...how fucking stoked were you when it was announced "oh by the way...we're releasing the whole damn tour on cd!"?

i jerked off six times that day
seriously, ive had old bootlegs for years and ive always wanted pearl jam to do this. the only thing that could be better than releasing every upcoming show is releasing old shows, and they are down that now, too. i love that this band recognizes our love for the bands live music.

I've always like Pearl Jam, but the 2K boots REALLY got me into the band. I agree, Pearl Jam "gets it" and makes their live stuff available at a resonable cost (or allows tapers). May other bands (Metallica is one that comes to mind), could learn from PJ.
Plus, how cool is it to get a soundboard quality CD from a show you went to? Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid and you got party favors to take home after the party was over.

me too--that year is still the gold standard in terms of how they did it, even though I like the 03 and 05 shows better.

I listened to one my military school friends' bootleg of one of the Euro shows. One night during study hall, I was going calculus while listening to it with headphones. The rest is history.
I believe that releasing the bootleg was the moment when the media finally took notice of the band's loyalty to their fans. I agree with what the lawyer said. I can't think of anything a band has ever done to please fans this much, and I doubt it will be topped.

It was a slice of heaven. All can remember is printing off the 5H concert chronology at my old job, going thru the 2000 shows with a highlighter and being able to find any show I wanted at Newbury Comics or Best Buy. This far outweighed the getting your instant fix 3 hours after the show MP3 routine.

Yeah, I printed all of the 5H concert chronologies out and put them in a binder to keep it all organized, I would pick out which bootleg I wanted to buy next and kept a running tally until they were all purchased. Every once in a while I go back and listen to one of those shows. It probably wasn't worth the money I spent on them, but it was such a great thing that I don't think I could ever part with those CDs.

Well, I think that the 2003 method is the gold standard. Putting all of the shows in stores was a big waste of money and resources for the band and record company, and having to wait until months after the tour to get the shows doesn't compare to only a couple of weeks and the immediate mp3 DL's (which I never listened to anyway).
But the 2000 method was the gold standard for the entire music world when it was done.

I forgot we had to wait in 2000. Good point. The thing I didn't like about 03 (which is my favorite year ever for ticket distribution) was those stupid stickers.

Oh, c'mon. It took me till my second boot from that year to figure out how to put them on perfectly and I've never had one of the stickers fall off on me.

I've never had them fall off but one or two of mine don't stay on too well, but even if they stayed on great I miss having the semi-unqiue cases from 2000.

My stickers never fell off. The 2000 bootleg sleeves owned.
Even though they didn't come out til after the tour, they were great. The setlist scan was very cool!
