Hi, I was at Eddie's show at the State Theatre in Sydney last night. Great performance by Eddie!

However, fans at the show were rude and disrespectful. Constantly yelling out riciculous requests (Evenflow, SOLAT, Leash???). Can you believe it??? Interrupting Eddie as well when he was attempting to interact with the crowd!

Somebody needs to remind some these Nickelback fans who keep turning up to Eddie's shows that it is supposed to be an intimate performance, semi acoustic and you ARE required to sit and enjoy the show, NOT mosh and dance like crazy people with schooners of beer in your hands!

Poor Eddie, I think he needs to start tearing down some of his fame and notoriety (as he did at the height of Pearl Jam's fame in the mid 90's) AGAIN to shed some of these bogun fans...

Or perhaps 3 Doors Down, Nickelback and Creed need to bring out albums simultaneously to take the focus off the poor guy!

It's all Hinny's fault really.

The sum total of my standing up is one line of Unthought Known, Lukin, Porch, and Hard Sun. And I would NEVER, EVER mosh with a beer in my hand. Wasting alcohol - I don't have it in me.

It'd be just plain lazy to remain seated for those songs :)

I haven't been to an ed solo show, but everything I've read here tells me this is a problem at all of Ed's solo shows in the US and elsewhere, not just Sydney.

Moreover, it's a problem for these kinds of shows generally. Dave Matthews has done shows and tours over the years where he plays acoustic evenings just with him and Tim Reynolds. As with the Ed shows, these are at smaller theatre-type venues and the expectation would seem to be that the audience sit and not scream out. That's not the case at all, in practice. The crowds for Dave & Tim shows have been obnoxious for as long as he's been doing such shows.

I do like the idea of blaming Nickelback for all this somehow, however.

Isn't it a rule that you can only get in to a DMB/D&T show if you are either a hot chick or a frat dude with a pastel sweater tied around your neck?

But yeah, def. Nickelback's fault.

eddie's spent the last 20 years trying to convince everyone he's punk and now he wants his audience to sit quietly and listen to introspective ukulele songs?

If Bateman says it wasn't funny, then it wasn't funny. Let's agree on that.

Well he isn't playing punk songs at his shows, is he? How is it hard to understand that a solo artist playing ukulele and guitar requires a bit of respect from the audience so that everyone can enjoy the show?
I know i know, it's all for fun, the shortcuts and caricatures. So I'm not saying it's a big deal and my message to spike was a joke, so shove it.

If you play Porch & Lukin at an otherwise 'quiet' gig you're asking for it if you ask me.
