When you do a show in this part of the world the promoter imposes a 300 mile exclusion zone and usually a 6month to year long timescale in which you're not allowed play within either of those limits. Unless you're still dealing with the same promoter and have clout. Hence Manchester and not london after isle of Wight.
I believe it's the same with some of the big festivals in the US too. I know bands that play Sasquatch can't play Seattle or Portland for some time after the festival, or at least that's what I've heard. That's why you see shows in random places across the Northwest around that time, like bands playing in Bend and Eugene. I've heard it's the same with Lollapalooza, too - that bands can't come back to Chicago for several months.
Pearl Jam shows: Champaign 4/23/2003 Chicago 6/18/2003 St. Louis 10/05/2004 Portland 7/20/2006 Gorge 7/22/2006 Ridgefield 9/26/2009 Philadelphia 10/31/2009

It's hooey.
Having experienced an on form PJ at festivals in both 2006 and 2010, I won't be seeing them play at IOW as festival crowds are just for non-music fans wanting to revel for 4 days and come home with the stink of stae sweat, weed and an STD for company.

Oh, look at us, we're Pearl Jam. We tour Europe and Australia and South America becasue we are cultured and it sounds cool. BULLSHIT
Well, Eddie did call America "supposedly great" @ PJ20 and they don't want to lose their 'global citizen' card. Plus with the inflation of the US dollar it makes sense to diversify your profit centers for when the SHTF here.
Also, WTF are they doing? My sources in N&D tell me that Europe is going to be filled with fires and riots next summer, so unless they are playing somewhere truly special, like on the Athenian Acropolis
I highly doubt this... But if this ever happens, I'll save a spot for you mate

The Italian press reports that Eddie is touring Italy and possibly other European countries excluded from PJ's tour in July. He's supposedly already booked in Rome for the 26th and 27th and another 2 dates around the same time in Milan. The venues are the Audithorium in Rome and the Arcimboldi theatre in Milan.
