Don't bother with Sky Arts. Zoe Ball just said Ed only let them have three songs from tonights set.

Man, Ed's voice.

I don't think I'm being overly critical here; it does not sound good.

Even as late as 2006 he sounded fine: not the same Ed as 1992 or 2000, but still capable of singing those songs well. What happened since?

That's fucking cool!

I assumed it was Love Reign O'er Me.

They're rewarding old dudes for being old. Ed probably feels bad about yelling at Doug Railroad.

I still think he sounds fine in 2003 and 2009-2011, at least I enjoy it... But this one... It really does not sound good... It actually sounds like he got a blocked nose... Just listen him talking at the begin of Yellow Ledbetter. Because of the rain maybe?

That's a cold. it was raining heavily in Manchester as well. Looking at the video, he's clearly struggling with it and it's annoying him, and some reports saying he was getting concerned looks off the band most of the night. Hope he's ok for the rest of the tour.

I think he's had that cold since 2008 or so if that's the case.

At the first Adelaide show in 2006, Ed was (as per Stone) 'sick as a dog' and it's one of the best vocal performances I've heard from him in recent years: he was crackly, raspy and gnarly in a way that's exceedingly rare after 1998 or so.

He sounded full throated and really good in Manchester, better than any recent boots I'd heard certainly. it was noted by everyone we were there with. His voice isn't what it was. We all know that though but I think it's a cold he's caught.

Don't be daft.

You can obviously tell he's unwell from listening to him for less than ten seconds.

I'll be the first to agree that his voice ain't a patch on what it used to be; last time it was genuinely good was the 2006 tour.

However, having actually attended both Manchester shows, and listened to every official bootleg they've released [and, more importantly, used a bit of common sense], it's more than clear that he was sick at this show.
