Talked to a friend at the show, he said the band didn't really seem to know that Neil was going to come out, like Mike and Neil only knew, said Ed looked about to burst into tears. Also said he saw the setlist and Chloe Dancer was actually added. Was not on the original setlist, just scribbled on there. Also said the RITFW solo was like 9-15 minutes long.

Wow.

pretty great show guys...
as already stated, yes it was full chloe dancer with crown of thorns...

also, the save it for later tag wasn't just the "run away part" it was a pretty decent portion of the song...

the "it's okay" tag was great... i'm glad i got to see/hear that..

and yes, RITFW was probably about 15 minutes long with a huge extended solo/jam in the middle with neil... just incredible all around...

i don't see how they could top it tomorrow, but we'll see.

Its also 9/11. I don't think PJ's ever played on the date before (since the attacks). You'd think I Am Mine's a lock for inclusion.

They didn't play I Am Mine at any of their past post-2001 9/11 shows. I Am Mine was really written about Roskilde, and they played it at the 2007 Copenhagen show.

Yeah, I think it was the whole first verse of the song through the chorus.

Side note: I think this may be my first Pearl Jam show without "Even Flow".

Btw - did Mudhoney only play for like 35 minutes? I thought the show started at 7:30pm, but they were done by 8:05pm. (PJ didn't come on until like 8:55pm.)

Interesting that DTE and Once were dropped to a lower key.

fuck me, that was great. That was the most epic Rockin in the Free World ever. Mike left the stage half way through the song and then Neil comes on with Mike's guitar and from there on it was a full on assault. The look of pure joy on Ed's face with the crowd's reaction to Neil was priceless. At the end of the song Ed was hitting his head and gesturing like "can you believe what's happening here?"

Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns was amazing. Did Boom fuck it up? I didn't really notice. It was beautiful. Ed sounded great on it.

Tiny video, very decent audio:

Neil walks on just after 1:10 or so into the vid, the crowd goes absolutely apeshit.

Yeah, let me dial that back a little. (A little bit of post-show exhaustion/hyperbole.)

"Chloe Dancer" basically has one chord, and he kept hitting the wrong note. I'm blanking on where - and it was in the same key, so it wasn't totally out of place. (I'd have to hear it again, but it may have even been something as simple as playing the correct notes out of order.) Could even be considered an artistic choice, but it took me out of the song every now and again. It made me think he'd only heard the song a couple of times. Having said that, it's the kind of thing that most people wouldn't notice.

He did goof the ending, though - Eddie looked at Boom and threw his arm out as a signal, but he didn't catch it.

But, apart from that (for me), it was totally brilliant. I missed Atlanta 2003, and was really bummed to have missed "Crown of Thorns" that night, and figured that was probably my one chance. This made up for that and more.

NY appearance trumps CC appearance by a long shot!

For Fantasy's sake, I really hope Neil comes back tonight.

I'm ready for boots already.
