2006 had me feeling like PJ wouldn't be around much longer so I ended up going to as many shows as I could. I did 12 shows on that tour- 5 East Coast and 7 West Coast. I was glad I did them all and I loved each and every one.
I spent a lot of time with RMers too. It was lovely.

The '06 tour will always be kinda special for me because, even though I wasnt a PJ fan when it was happening, the US leg of the '06 tour is plastered across iTunes so that was my intro to Pearl Jam as a live band, and showed me how great they really are live.
Having been said, it was a bit sloppy of a tour... forgotten lyrics, the whole band sounding like they're about to spin out... from what I've heard of the Backspacer and PJ20 tours, they really pulled it together nicely... too bad those bootlegs arent as easily accessable as the '06 ones through iTunes.

I really enjoyed this tour. Started a little slowly but really just kept getting better. band hit a nice stride on the west coast US leg, then Europe was great, and the Australia shows are pretty much all excellent. I don't have a problem with most of the S/T songs per se and they all are much better live than on the record. I spent most of 2006 and 2007 just listening to bootlegs from this tour when I was in the mood to listen to PJ and I think all that ultimately convinced me that I like the album more than I do. (As it turns out, I like most of the songs, but just don't like the album all that much.)
I saw Las Vegas and San Diego on back-to-back nights. An interesting study in the bootleg experience.
The Vegas show was a rough one, felt uneven and never really seemed to get a good momentum, but it actually makes for a pretty great bootleg. The SD show was and still is the best live concert experience I've ever had. Stellar main set, great encores. Just a fabulous night. And on the bootleg it all comes over as ... good. It's a good show to listen to, especially with my memories of actually being there, but I can understand why other bootlegs get more praise.

I don't think I've ever been to a better show since then, PJ or otherwise. Perfect combination of atmosphere, setlist, and a great day in San Diego. I still regret not going to LA after this one. This has always been one of my favorite tours when listening to the bootlegs. Then again, I like Avocado so that helps.

Yeah dude, the Backspacer tour kind of sucked.

Sir I respectfully disagree.
I dont dislike either tour and I'd easily give pretty much any bodypart to have been at a show from either tour, but I'd prefer the more recent 2 to the '06 one.

The 2010 tour was solid as all hell, especially the run of North America shows. The 2009 tour however was sloppy as shit.

the west coast and aussie runs in 06 have to be considered amongst their best runs ever. real solid shows with inspired playing and frankly little to dislike. 05 was such a great tour it was kind of disappointing they didn't really get that momentum back until the west coast. some of the euro shows were pretty great, too.

I was always disappointed with the east coast shows but yeah, listening to San Fran 3 last night kind of blew my mind. It's not my favorite style of Pearl Jam, with the speed issues, but you can't deny how fucking tight the band was there.
