Apologies, I forgot for a moment that hyperbole is unwelcome on the internet.
I am going to report this post to the mods... for awesomeness.
And it sounds like Ed is sick. His voice sounded good (2000s good, not 1996 good) during the Canadian tour last year, so unless he's gone overboard with the cigs recently, he's still got some gas in that can.

Pj fans. Don't complain when singer cancels a tour through injury. Do complain when singer has a cold but plays on through it. They're about to show the 3 songs on tv here. - Blood, Alive and Yellow Ledbetter. What he's lacking in voice he's making up for in kinetics.

Yeah, but he is not letting his voice reach it's potential adding up to somewhat mechanical performances and this inertial feeling that the momentum the band is trying to recapture is lost to more than just friction over time.
Watched the versions of YL and Alive. The band looked almost as bored as I was. I know I shouldn't care about aesthetics but Ed needs to embrace his baldness and shave it all off.

I wonder how long he can keep this up as a singer. I guess if Roger Daltrey's still doing it Ed'll keep going. But when he's sick and he's not in top shape, yeah, its pretty rough. I also wonder if diehard GNR fans give Axl Rose as much shit online about his voice nowadays as we give Ed for not being 30 anymore.

This is not even close. I watched the clip of Axl eating shit at the beginning of Sweet Child O Mine and then hung around to hear what he sounded like. He isn't even a shell of himself. If I had listened to it blind, I never would have guessed it was Axl. Ed is still Ed. He may have been sick or his vocal chords may be just adjusting to suddenly singing after a long layoff, but I think he still sounds pretty good most of the time. People on this message board are just kind of assy about everything not being 1994.

Yea I dont think Ed sounded bad on that version of Blood posted above. Compared to 1993 Ed yea of course but he actually sounds like Ed has the past 10 years and for the vocal that song requires...he's still cranking it out quite well all things considered.
